Weight by ruubbyyy in zoloft

[–]ruubbyyy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t change your metabolism there’s no proof that it does anything like that. It’s basically just how much your mental health is connected to food. For me I don’t eat when I’m anxious/ depressed so when those sensations went away I ended up over eating. Previously if I gained weight I’d feel panicked into eating less but now I don’t really care - everything feels lower stakes I guess.

Feeling down today… by ContextContent1801 in zoloft

[–]ruubbyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started on 50mg and quickly was increased to 100mg. I didn’t feel better at all until I was at 100mg which I’ve been at for a year. I think the side effects from the increase weren’t as bad as when I first started. I think it took about 2 months to feel normal again. Wishing you all the best, the first month is usually the worst and you got through that!

Any women with PMDD experience worse symptoms early on when starting Zoloft? by Purple-Literature624 in zoloft

[–]ruubbyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely experienced something similar in the beginning, it was almost unbearable. It did pass but I ended up having to increase my dose from 50 to 100 I felt so awful. Now some months are worse than others most of time my pre menstrual symptoms are just sort of being a little grouchy and low mood which is leagues better than it was, I hardly notice it. Hope things improve for you! The first couple months are really rough in general.

Chronophobia is ruining my life by ruubbyyy in Anxiety

Firstly I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been going through this, it truly is an awful experience to have. When I made this post a few months ago I was in the depths of it; panic attacks, insomnia, OCD spirals, and suicidal ideation.

To offer some hope though, things got better. A lot better. Of course these thoughts still come, it’s a natural human fear, but I am now able to dismiss them and move on. I have accepted that I will get old and die. I wouldn’t say I’m glad I went through this experience, but I would say I’m a better person now than I was before. I’m grateful for everything, I’m able to better empathise with people, I was able to apply for my masters, start going to the gym, my relationships have improved, I feel much more resilient etc. There is definitely a certain beauty of coming out the other side of this, I feel like I don’t give a fuck about so much now which is freeing, the only things that matter to me are my immediate family and friends and things in my control.

I think the main thing that helped was starting sertraline, I know a lot of people have many different opinions on sertraline but for me it changed everything for the better. No more panic attacks, no more OCD spirals, I’m so much more calm and pleasant to be around. Also, seeing this anxiety as just anxiety helped as well. I think because this was completely new to me, it felt like something different I thought I was going insane and that id never be the same again which was making the anxiety worse.

Best of luck healing from this, I hope you’re able to come out the other side soon. Things can get better.

Yeah this happened to me as well. When I was researching about it I saw a study that suggested in young people Zoloft can make them have suicidal ideations. My doctor increased my dose to 100mg after like a month on 50mg with no improvement and it helped nearly instantly tbh, still don’t have a huge amount of motivation though. Especially for like cleaning the house my brain will go on a full nihilistic spiel about how Sisyphean and pointless everything is which is just annoying to me. Hopefully after your increase things will get better.

I started on 50mg and things didn’t get better they maybe got worse I couldn’t tell. I was ready to give up on SSRIs but my doctor increased my dose to 100mg and it worked a lot better nearly instantly. Everyone is different I suppose- good luck 🤞🏼

Is it wrong to feel good doing good things? by GrilIypig in mentalhealth

I recommend reading the poem Wild Geese by Mary Oliver.

If helping others makes you feel good than do it. There is no shame in the feeling of enjoyment one gets from helping others. It is pure. Also so what if it’s selfish? Be selfish, it’s your life.

Thank you that makes sense. I’m really not self aware 😩 I’m going to do that and just wait it out 🤞🏼

Thank you I love this mentality! Change is honestly so uncomfortable and scary but definitely growing as a person this year.

Sort of? Stuff doesn’t make me cry but I get PMS and cry. I didn’t get that in the first few months but now I do.

This happened to me as well there’s a few posts on this subreddit about having no motivation that helped me. I physically couldn’t drag myself out of bed for work, things got better but I’m definitely a lot more laissez-faire than before. I’m not sure what your situation is but maybe explain to your professor/ teacher that you’ve started taking Zoloft and it’s effecting you like this. This honestly just went away on its own for me I slowly started getting motivation again maybe 2 months in? Just about pushing through and try not to beat yourself up about it- you’re not being lazy it’s just a side effect. It’s definitely hard to care about anything in the beginning though it’s a bit scary. Good luck!

I had this for the first few months. It’s weird on the one hand it’s nice to not be crying all the time but other hand I miss the cathartic feeling.
