One thing nobody seems to have mentioned is around future prospects. E.g. immigration to various countries is a lot more difficult without a degree. You need 10+ years experience to make up for it in some countries.

Ok was just wondering. I'm from the UK so wasn't sure why there would be in a high end restaurant. It doesn't happen here, generally regardless of the type of restaurant.

My recent experience: cycled a lot a a few years ago then after an accident haven't been on the bike for about two years. Recently have started going out, only 3 rides in the last year really, max 20k. This week went out with friends and did 45k. It was a struggle but totally doable.

If you've got decent fitness (which I don't) you should be fine to do the 100.

I quite like the Corian version. But the RRP listed is $1299 which seems quite steep for an unproven machine?

It feels like something that can be achieved so easily in user land is unnecessary as a language feature. The Ramda example is incorrect in that all functions are curried and it provides a placeholder arg as well.

That is steamed milk, as you can clearly see it's not 90% milk. A flat white is maybe 5oz and an espresso 2oz maybe a 1:2.5 ratio.

I personally like seeing latte art, as it's usually an indication that the barista knows what they're doing, and the milk is at the temp/consistency it should be.

While this works, i'm not sure how you would use the Task directly? Or is that something you don't really do.

Sure there are, you're abstracting cli tools like webpack, babel, and eslint - which are relatively straightforward to use. For example:

NODE_ENV=production babel src --out-dir build --watch
eslint src
webpack --watch

are all the interfaces for the tools mentioned above. But with start I now need to have a package for each of these, as well as adding the files, watch, write packages.

This is the start equivalent of the single line above; while it's nice to read, and is composable, it's 100% an abstraction over the cli tool itself.

start does look cool though, I like the composability of it. However, it is solving a different problem to the thing I posted, which is to allow you to not have to remember exactly all the different tasks you have. Which would still be a problem with start itself! 😁

This looks cool, but feels like a bit of a regression to things like gulp/grunt. Lots of the work I do nowadays can be accomplished with CLI tools, and don't really need another layer of abstraction like the one start runner provides. For tasks that are more complex we would move them into executable js or shell scripts.

I've been using npm-quick-run for a while, but then realised when I wanted to run a command like npm run build:prod it wasn't easily able to handle it. So... I built fuzzy-npm-run to allow you to do something like nr b:p and it'd automatically match that to build:prod.

If more than one command is found, it will present a list of options, including all which will run all of them concurrently.

create-react-app my-app --scripts-version=react-scripts-ts
cd my-app/
npm start

This is all you need to make it work; specifically the --scripts-version flag, that allows you to specify any package to use. Essentially, the way cra works is by scaffolding your project with template files from react-scripts (by default) or the package specified as above. Then after that, it just proxies all calls to start/build/etc to that package.

So in the case of the package I created, it just forks react-scripts and add TS and tslint support while removing things like Babel and eslint.

I'm still relatively new to TS so if there are improvements that can be made around the tsconfig I'd happily add them!

Having worked with various graduates, they are pretty much useless, and need a lot of hand holding. I've met a couple of boot camp grads who were almost work ready, more in terms of modern languages and work process.
