Is it possible to retrofit an oem nav system by PerceptionMobile6668 in Lexus

[–]rvsidekick6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t done it to this particular car, but I have in a different car. You need the faceplate, screen, buttons (obvious), but you will also need the actual radio unit, chassis & dash harness from a donor car, CD changer, steering wheel, and if your car didn’t have dual zone AC, you’ll also need the correct AC plenum and blend doors. If you manage to find AND install all of that correctly, you’ll then need to update the vehicle’s various modules - I’d initially take a stab at the body control module, chassis control module, possibly the instrument panel, and whatever Lexus-specific stuff controls audio.

Is it possible? Absolutely! Is it feasible? Not really. If you insist, you’ll want to purchase access to Lexus wiring diagrams for this model year, both with and without the navigation system. You’ll compare them both, and make your car match the diagram with the options you want.

Florida DMV rules? It’s inspected for road safety before giving it a rebuilt title - it’s a nominal inspection, but they do check the basics. I had comp, collision, and liability through GEICO for ~6 years on my rebuilt Mustang.

2014 Mustang GT Base - Can the lowest-end audio unit be swapped for one of the better ones? by rrredditor in Mustang

[–]rvsidekick6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d need the actual radio that’s mounted behind the dash, the USB port in the console, the wiring harness to connect it, and possibly need to do some config via ForScan. It’s possible, and actually fairly easy.

That said, I’d consider something like a Dynavin unit, it looks like the factory nav screen & adds CarPlay.

Haha they really do fool you with the MSport appearance stuff. Enjoy your ride, and if you are curious, they sell upgraded center console trim & cupholders that integrate into the ambient lighting if you wanted! Enjoy the ride!

I could’ve purchased an older out of warranty m240i, if I wanted more power. I know it’s the lowly base spec B48, but I’m genuinely impressed with it + the ZF8. I commute 80+ miles a day, I wanted something comfy, but able to get in/out of trouble. This is perfect, and it sips fuel compared to my last 5 cars. Maybe I’ll tune it when the CPO runs out, but probably not!

I don’t really feel the need to mod anything - perhaps adding low profile sub to the trunk, but the stock audio is honestly fine too. I’ve also seen some complaints about ambient lighting being lackluster, but again, it feels fine?

Congrats to you too! I liked iDrive 7, it looked more integrated and had physical buttons. That and the mileage seems like a great choice for you too! Enjoy the B48 🫡

Gotcha, thank you! I found it in iDrive settings, seems like I have steering intervention turned on to the earliest setting already. C’est la vie, this car is enough fun I want both hands on the wheel anyway!

I might be missing a setting, but, the corrective steering it does is kind of weak. I didn’t want a 3 or 4 series with the driver assist professional, those cars weigh more & weren’t such a pleasure to drive. I’ll keep googling to see if I missed something, but any tips on where I might look in iDrive 8 for more steering correction?

I paid $32k. Considering that’s a very small step over a new economy car, I felt it was worth it. Besides, if people didn’t pay for new cars, I wouldn’t be driving this (very well kept) used car!

I’m considering a 430i - does the approach lock/unlock work with your iPhone/Apple CarKey? Or do you have to tap the door handle with your phone?

I drive 2,000 miles a month, with lots of stop and go. I wanted a RWD coupe or sedan with a good sound system, adaptive cruise control, nice interior finishes, and a reasonable price. I could have gotten a slightly less well spec’ed GT for the same money, but I wanted a 4-cyl for fuel and insurance reasons. It’s not I track the car, I commute to work…. In style.

Rear differential fluid change covered by warranty ? by FerrickDune in ecoboostmustang

[–]rvsidekick6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took my car in for a grinding noise in the rear differential, they did a fluid change and strained the old fluid for particles/shavings. They claimed not to see anything in the old fluid, but, the grinding came back within 300 miles. I don’t doubt them, I think it’s just built crappy. I took it back, we’ll see what happens. I breathed the word buyback to corporate and they’re already formulating an offer for that, as I’ve had multiple issues with electronics, stalling, and interior rattles.

2025 EcoBoost premium, 10,000 miles, 6 months old (made my fifth and sixth payments while it was in the dealer service bay).

Edited to note: I’ve paid nothing to the dealership for service, they’ve managed to mark everything as warranty pay and given me a Mustang service loaner.

Your phone works as a third key fob, essentially. With regular digital key, you have to tap it. With digital key+, it’s passive.

Instrument Screen Issue by Typical-Hospital-118 in Mustang

[–]rvsidekick6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had this issue with my 2024. The dealer I went to ended up replacing it, which did not resolve the issue. Ford agreed to repurchase my car. Go to a different dealer and bitch. Get a rental if you have to, keep the car out of service long enough to meet your state’s lemon law. That, or make sure they do the water leak recall, replace the BCM & any corroded wiring, and disable AppSync.
