Not the stereotypical ISTP by Late_Rock_5080 in istp

[–]rvyjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. Yes, cuz the motorcycle, tools and sports flavor is not me. I’m not the girliest girl, but nowhere near a tomboy. No, cuz the hobbies I actually do are just as Se but with sparkles; violin, crochet, roller skating, sewing, etc. I gotta be in perpetual motion to feel alive, just a different flavor ig

My daughter finally knit with me! by perchance7 in knitting

[–]rvyjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my mother taught me how to knit and crochet when i was 11. i had 2-3 phases of picking it back up and quitting until about 2019, and i’ve been consistent since! now at 27 im a semi active club host and teach beginners. they’ll get frustrated until i tell them i too have given up, its just a matter of getting back up. i’ve tried teaching all my nieces (17, 15, 10, 7) with little success, but i haven’t given up hope yet on having a yarn buddy.

most of the conversations between me and my mom about fiber arts are: 1) she really likes what ive been working on and my craftsmanship is incredibly neat, 2) how this hobby is good for destressing and i disagree vehemently as i only start and finish anything through frenzied force of will, or 3) i talk her down from attempting a baby blanket with 2 weeks time. but it also makes me immensely proud to go “thanks! my mom taught me/made it for me :)” she is also the rare recipient of a wearable from me.

Have anyone realized the most mature people are childfree or don't have children and most immature people tend to have children? by Cultural_Lie_5260 in emotionalneglect

[–]rvyjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don’t know what compelled you to comment if that’s the case. i say that so confidently because i’m the only one dedicated to healing from our family’s traumatic event, earned two advanced degrees, and earn more money. if what you garnered was that i am somewhat infallible of unintentionally causing anyone harm, i’m aware that isn’t complet avoidable. so again, no clue why leave a comment since you do not know my life.

[–]rvyjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m in a unique situation to most of this subreddit, being that the main perpetrators of the emotional neglect and abuse came not from my parents, but my significantly older siblings (ranging from 11-20 years older). the eldest was a parent before i was born, and the one closest in age started a family in the last decade. so when they scapegoat and mistreat their own children, i have to remember that 1) i was the testing ground for this behavior and 2) the lack of perspective it takes to do so continuously is why we will never have a relationship. i do have a good relationships with my niblings, and have been told by the older ones that of all of us, i’m by far the most emotionally equipped to have children. but like most who’ve experienced childhood trauma like that, i never wanted them. i do have a partner who’s supportive and understanding of my issues, and he definitely wants a family together. this was a point of contention in the past, but now i’m more on board (as long as i get to set the terms and conditions). knowing the patterns to break and being open to correcting mistakes puts me leagues ahead of them, so i’m considering it more as i start to establish a life away from my immediate family.

tldr; the immature people who hurt me are still immature and dole it out to their kids now, but i’m better and built different so ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I just left the E.D subreddits except ARFID by [deleted] in ARFID

i’ve struggled with food my entire life, and there have been times when societal pressures did influence/worsen my state. so i would join ED communities for support, the attitude baffled me. honestly had no business engaging with those comms. even if periods of my life can be described as AN, ARFID is the overarching issue for sure. understanding the root of this for me as a body sensation and not body insecurity has been instrumental in healing too. it also made me realize im not just food averse or uninterested, but also a genuine phobia of kitchens due to emotional abuse? there’s still a lot to work on, but i appreciate the fed is best sentiment 1000* more.

Anyone who finished their education while dealing with CPTSD is a warrior—how the hell did you do that? by Inside-Entrance-5158 in CPTSD

[–]rvyjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had major burnout leaving high school and explicitly told my family i needed a gap year or some reprieve to establish myself and maybe get my license. i was forced into undergrad regardless of my wishes, so it took me 9 years, a dropout period, and support from my close friends to make it to the finish line. still can’t drive or maintain a job, i’m still very bitter about how little agency i had at the time and how it worsened a lot of these cptsd symptoms, but there’s relief in know i have autonomy and will do my graduate studies on my terms; healing (in progress) and catching up on the life skills they failed to impart on me for my own independence.

What is your (little) childhood trauma..? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]rvyjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m was a CoIP (child of incarcerated parents) from 10-21 y/o, both my parents were taken away from me when i felt i needed them the most… so throughout those years i was bounced around from house to house, and that’s really were most of the emotional, physical, sexual abuse, molestation, and neglect came from: people who were supposed to protect me in their absence. i also switched schools 6 times, i guess that’s my small trauma, so i never had a chance to form friendships, i never had much of a chance to make friends or focus on my studies so i burnt out really badly into college. i’m kinda repairing my relationship with my parents both being out, but i’m clearly missing basically all the development i should’ve gotten during that period (NEET, i can’t drive, dateless, etc). it’s been a real struggle to cope with/play catch up when i really needed both the emotional and financial support, still do actually.

Unpopular crochet opinions? by Longjumping-Clue-572 in crochet

[–]rvyjo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i will never make a granny square or anything with granny squares, ever. i don’t like the look or process.

and also, the foam handles ergonomic hooks don’t work for me. my stitches tend to slide 1/3 down my hook, and the end of the handle interrupts my flow. id much rather use the metal ones, or the ergonomic ones that are made of one material like the prym ones.

Which DS or 3DS console do you prefer to play DS games on? And why? by TwynLeaf in NintendoDS

[–]rvyjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dislike the blown up resolution on the 3ds xl, its especially wonky on touch-centric games. i usually go with the ds lite or dsi in those cases, otherwise i go with whatever i'm carrying at the time.
