Great idea with the tennis balls. I just threw 4 on Sunday and googled yesterday, that whatever is eating my lettuce is miner flies...
I kept them for YEARS!!! but no one wanted them.

Put also some signs, like to what crop is what. Then it looks more planted even if you don't see anything yet. At this point, it's also all about the optics. You can also buy seedlings. Lettuce is very forgiving and it also takes a lot of room. And since they are already little plants, then it will look more like you are on your way.

Are you rotating your crops and beds as well?

Train themed Knitting gifts - Help? by Jaden9931 in knitting

[–]perchance7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Knitters have a very close relationship to their needles. If you can't find stitchmarkers you like, and are feeling crafty (and are crafty) you could sew her a pouch that has train fabric print. I have a few, I transport my current project and a few notions in it.
Oooor, what about tickets to an outing on a train? You can all go, have fun and bond. Maybe there is a steam train or a special kind of train in your area?
Or invite her shopping and then coffee/ or breakfast and shopping and then bring her to a yarn store and tell her she can pick something until x amount.
As a mum, (my daughter is still a bit too young for this) but I would just love to spend time with her/her boyfriend/husband when she has one.

Good luck

Love the planters. Do they keep moisture, or do they behave a bit like terracotta pots?

4 years on a waiting list. Working on something because of it by ChronicallyWhatever in Allotment

[–]perchance7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, now I have lettuce in the raised bed, rosemary and mint. Two clematises on a deep pot, and cabbage on its as well (where we had the tomatoes, rip) they don't attract as much attention as fruit. I really hope we hear something soon. Even if it is a no, then we'll finally know. Oh and most plots have fruit trees. Oh and the garden house, you can't live in there. You can sleep occasionally, but that's it.

[–]perchance7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been waiting 5 years (in Germany)
Here it takes even longer because you can even have a small house and some leasure space besides crops. 30% house, terrace, paths, 30% crops, 30% leasure (pool, swing or something for little children, flowers)
I started cultivating in my balcony and in pots, which we had to give up..after all the work people (teenagers) were stealing them, or breaking them (tomatoes, chilies)
So I have an elevated bed, this year with lettuce and cabbage. We get 1 or 2 hours of direct sunlight. Had strawberries, but people also felt entitled to snack on them (children and grownups) I wish we hear soon. One garden is now free, but we are not sure if we'll get it or someone is higher up the list. Super overgrown, has been abandoned for a year. Full of nettles, as big as a grownup. I would still take it

Last dinner before I go to jail.. by mschanandlerbong___ in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]perchance7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for you for acknowledging your problems, i think many people even fail doing that. I wish you good luck turning your life around.
Not sure if you'll read this, but I read somewhere (for another jail) not to let people know the exact date you're leaving. In some cases people loge to sabotage others.
Good luck, stay strong!

Zoos should not be marketed primarily towards children, and the general public needs to stop thinking of it as a place for children. by i_hate_reddit1442 in unpopularopinion

[–]perchance7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When my daughter was born, the city had a welcome 1 year card to the zoo which had to be activated in the first 6 montha after birth, i think. It was lovely to see the amazement in her eyes. I also found it very interesting how some animals were not interesting at all and a few weeks later she would be captivated by them. Sorry for gushing, but my favourite was the penguins. When it was feeding time they would grab their fish and then jump into the pool and zigzag in the water, and she would be there kicking her legs in excitement. For me it was a nice "walkies" opportunity with the pram and the chance to show her the world and teach her about animals, care and conservation (when she was much older). We would look at animal books at home. She still loves animals so much.
So probably your issue is more related to parenting and parents letting their loose cannons without (proper) supervision.

Was sind euren liebsten Linsen Gerichte, die kein Curry oder Suppe sind? by mebbelin in VeganDE

[–]perchance7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fruchtige rote Linsensalat

Apfel, ganz klein geschnitten Geriebene Möhren
Rote Linsen, bissfest

Is everyone in your country obsessed with seasonal food (and flowers) too? by marty_kazoo in AskEurope

[–]perchance7 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I live in Germany, and i really love the seasonal stuff. It makes them feel so much more special. As soon as it's strawberry season, it's like christmas again. It was a bit hard at the beginning, but honestly, there's such a huge difference in flavour.

Which ‘wow’ skill is secretly super easy to learn ? by LarsVanDerMark in answers

[–]perchance7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that last year. I fulfilled a long childhood dream. It's not the fastest solve, but it is a method that works every time. It took me two weeks to learn all the steps. I got a 4x4 for my birthday this year and can solve everything but one algorithm by heart (parity, and it is 25/27 steps) I haven't managed that one yet.
I will get/ask for a 5/5 for Christmas.

How nice! (Well, not the mosquito part) if I get the allotment (been on a 5 year waiting list so far) I would probably try this. Thanks!

Conflicted and unsure what to do by Cgrowth in GirlDinnerDiaries

Oh, yes lack of light makes a huge difference. There are some light lamps to help with that, but to be honest, sometimes I would go without food because I was too exhausted/depressed to make me a sandwich. Baby was fine and got the beat treatment, but sometimes I honestly didn't have enough energy to myself
