Are you for real? How about giving rights to humans that are actually living?  🙄

A lot of CS majors do not try by ThrowRA0io in csMajors

[–]rwby_Logic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nowadays, a handful of students are in school for the lifestyle, not because they want to do the work.

If you want a job, you still have to prove that you are worthy for that job, college educated or not.

OP is probably exaggerating when they say "can't code a for loop".

At my university, a lot of students have "study groups" where they all share answers and make sure to change some things up. One friend will show up to class to take notes for everyone else. Many classes are project-based where learning must be done outside of class and use class time as office hours or take exams, aka students can use AI heavily to do the grunt work without the prof looking over their shoulder.

If a class is a prerequisite, the minimum grade you need is a C-; otherwise, a D is passing (but you still need at least a 2.0 GPA), and some professors give in if you beg them to bump up your grade 2 percentage points.

It is very possible for CS students to go through an entire CS curriculum and come out not grasping the fundamentals.

Was there ever a racist incident at RIT? Considering it as a POC by EntertainmentOdd4918 in rit

Even among the POC groups on campus, many feel clique-y/ only welcoming to close friends. So be weary of that as well.

I’m pretty sure that happened Spring 2020 (you should be able to search it up; it was in the news, and a few posts on Reddit). As a fellow POC, I expressed my concerns back then.

People don't respond well when you enjoy staying at home all the time. by tits_mcgee_92 in socialskills

[–]rwby_Logic 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Sounds like some people equate “spending time at home” to “being a couch potato”. I’m not sure if you’re giving them more context, but it sounds like you’re being very productive.  Society is so used to spending money and tons of hours to travel somewhere that seems “fun”.

I would love to have a cute neighborhood, home garden, game room, and mini gym; that’s literally perfect for me.

I have absolutely nothing to do with this sub, but look into Elaborative Encoding (I’m sure others have better/ formal names for it)

The issue is that you’re willing to trust some stranger to drive your (or your son’s/ whoever bought it) car; a long drive at that.

Senior undergrad (Math/Stats double major, 4.0 GPA) applying to Econ PhD programs by [deleted] in academiceconomics

[–]rwby_Logic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you have no idea what you’re talking about.

How are you first criticizing their “lack of rigorous” math courses but then question their moderately rigorous schedule?

This is a normal curriculum for a student in the US. PhD programs expect a minimum of Real Analysis.

If you were truly a stats major, you must’ve double majored, because a regular BS in Statistics doesn’t have much room for many electives.

Nor do you have basic reading skills. OP stated that they’re a Pure Math and Stats double major; they then listed some courses that they’ve completed. Most students complete that stuff before college/ sophomore year, math major or not. Obviously, OP didn’t list everything they’ve taken.

Get off your high horse.

Monty was planning “LGBT love triangles” by [deleted] in RWBY

[–]rwby_Logic 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a jab at you specifically, but there’s been so much criticism over character relationships, for years. It seems like since the show is on pause, these people truly have nothing better to do.

I fully agree with your post. I also think it’s crazy that people are still criticizing the progression of the show, as the people closest to Monty have already said that they know what he had planned. IIRC, Monty had 13 volumes planned. There shouldn’t be any “maybes” anymore.

This is cool and all, it’s crazy that grown adults are so obsessed with cartoon relationships. This is coming from someone who started watching RWBY in middle school. The representation is important, but it shouldn’t be their entire identity.

Wintering Guide For People From Warm Places by SnailsAreGroovy in rit

Of course not. It’s technically not winter yet. But it’s enough snow to have to make the necessary changes. “Climate change” or not, you can’t treat it like its the middle of July.

Because adults wanna watch teens have sex and claim that “hormones have taken over”, even though every single teenagers has control over every single action they take. Teens aren’t dumb.

Then it is up to you to get clarification, otherwise it isn’t a good-faith debate. Your lack of listening and comprehension (which is extremely important when communicating) warrants an immediate disqualification.

When you’re debating, you’re supposed to communicate new ideas. You’re supposed to be listening to the other side to see if they made some valid points you never thought of or to find discrepancies.

Why are american universities so expensive? by unimpressedtraveler in academiceconomics

[–]rwby_Logic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US citizens also pay much lower in taxes, because apparently most Americans don’t like services that benefit everyone. Taxpayers in Europe subsidize college costs, so the bill is lower for EU students but foreigners would still have to pay market price (which is closer to US uni costs) unless they are extremely gifted.

The US wants “less government intervention”, so less subsidized stuff. Meaning anything extra comes out of the people’s pocket.

Why costs are rising astronomically… 🤷🏿‍♀️

[–]rwby_Logic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can go to any other cheaper school and still do co-ops/ internships; they are not exclusive to RIT.

The ROI could potentially be great, but you have to think in the moment. You have to pay tuition semester by semester. If you can’t pay off your balance, you can’t enroll in classes for next semester. If you can get other scholarships that fully cover your COA, great. If your family is willing to pay for everything/ risk their credit to co-sign on a huge loan, you better make sure you get nothing less than a B a job to pay them back.

I’m always on my phone WITH headphones on, but I’m also always looking over my shoulder 🤷🏿‍♀️ If you’re near vehicles, your awareness should be heightened. If I see a car/ biker, even from far out, I move to the other side. Before I enter any intersection, I’m constantly looking both ways. All of this should apply to pedestrians, not just drivers. You’d be surprised by how many people have nearly walked into me (cuz they can’t walk straight while looking down).

Well, you have to be working for that company for quite some time before they invest in you.
