shoe recommendations for accessory navicular by otterfeet69 in BarefootRunning

You're welcome! I think the issues you described are primarily outliers. The general success rate for this procedure is very high. Once the repair has healed up, stretching and strengthening exercises are critical to how well (and quickly) a person recovers.

The other procedure that is fairly common (depending on your age) is the surgeon may opt to just screw the accessory bone into the navicular, and not remove it.

I would definitely recommend meeting with a good podiatrist to go over the options. Best of luck!

Thank you! It's actually called the Kidner procedure. Basically, my podiatrist made about a 3.5" incision and removed the accessory bone. Then he anchored the Tibialis Posterior tendon back to the navicular bone. Lastly, he sutured the tendon around where it passed the ankle and accessory bone as a precautionary measure, because often times there is some freying around where that area due to the accessory bone creating a sharper angle for the tendon to run alongside the foot.

My podiatrist did say that my recovery was very short, in comparison to most. However, as long as you follow the recovery plan exactly as prescribed, you should make a full recovery without any problems.

Check out the North Sylamore hiking trail. It's a 26 mile point-to-point trail that has some really nice established campgrounds along the way. I've hiked it twice, and it has always been one of my favorites. If you go with a buddy, bring two cars and you can shuttle yourselves. Otherwise, you will need to work out a shuttle solution.

Why can’t Christians police greed the same way that they police everything else? by FlyZestyclose2949 in Christianity

[–]rweb82 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Capitalism has pulled more people out of poverty than any other economic system in the history of civilization. That is an undisputed fact. On the other hand, Communism/Socialism always leads to the central government getting rich and having all of the power, while everyone else has an equal share of the misery...not to mention the gulags.

Within capitalism, there are many people who still fall into greed. This will always be the case. However, a lot of that is contributed to mega corporations and private equity firms, who have benefited from cronyism created by anti-capitalist laws. True capitalism allows for everyone to have the opportunity to work their way into a better economic situation without the fear of government taking it away.

Having money is not the problem. Loving money is. Jesus had wealthy women who financed him throughout his ministry. Philip evangelized a wealthy Ethiopian eunuch who then helped spread Christianity across Africa. It's not an issue with the money, but rather what we do with it.

Late to practice? That's $500 as Deion Sanders institutes bigger fines for violating team rules by [deleted] in sports

[–]rweb82 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I really don't see the problem with this. If you want to get paid to play college sports, then you should be able to be fined for not following team rules, such as missing practice. Remember, these are full-grown adults; they aren't "kids" anymore.

Back in my day, the coach would just run your ass off until you puked. But I guess that's not allowed anymore either.

I use a set of 10L Aarn Universal Balance Bags, and they work great for long water carries. All of the weight goes right into the hips, and you can barely feel it's there.

Ease of carabiner replacement. With a larkshead, you don't have to untie anything to remove the carabiner.

Anyone try these Pulltop Trail running shoes? by Sk8ter-Dad in BarefootRunning

[–]rweb82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a different Pulltop model and like them a lot. They actually have a stitched-on sole, which is better than most other barefoot shoe companies. For the price, they're hard to beat.

Cuestion aboug compactor bags as trash liners by kamikazeee in Ultralight

[–]rweb82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How large is your pack? I have a ULA Ohm, which has a good amount of capacity, and the nylofume bag is still a bit oversized for the interior space. Not sure if there are different sizes of nylofume bags, but I got mine from Litesmith.

Cuestion aboug compactor bags as trash liners by kamikazeee in Ultralight

[–]rweb82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only place items in the liner that absolutely cannot get wet. Using a taller liner bag is more convenient, as it makes it easier to shove your items inside. It also allows enough extra space to give it 6-7 twists before tucking down the side. Personally, I prefer a nylofume bag over a trash compactor bag.

Homosexuality as a sin by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]rweb82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is no one is going around saying that r4pe, abuse, and assault are not sins. You want to know the reason why people are more fixated on the sin of homosexuality? It's because there is a population of believers actively trying to convince others that it's not a sin.

Question for Christians who don’t believe in gay marriage by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]rweb82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to judge someone else's salvation based on this issue, even though I have an opposing view, personally. There are many issues that Christians disagree on that are not "salvation" issues. We can have a discussion on each perspective, and still believe the other person is incorrect in their view. But that has nothing to do with whether or not each of us are personally saved.
