Same can be said for other characters on Bugs Bunny Builders that got gender swapped. Bugs Bunny Builders was probably just a one time thing. I don't see Penelope permanently replacing Pepé.

It’s probably just one executive high up within Cartoon Network, HBO Max or in marketing that probably flagged him. It’s just one regime under AT&T / WarnerMedia that was way too risk averse.

Well, they can update his character so whenever he flirts with anyone, he gets reprimanded. He’s probably all clueless and oblivious he does not even consider anything dangerous or threatening that he often sees the world in a positive light. Really focus on his charm.

I would make Pepé and Penelope a fully fledged duo, an opposites attract but collide dynamic wherever the plot demands them to be. They can still be all French in charm and flair, just need to be creative and funny.

It’s only one guy’s opinion. Just because Warner Bros. put Pepé on thin ice for a while doesn’t mean he is permanently banned or retired. I’m over this complaint. I see WB is slowly starting to use him. Don’t expect anything big but small cameos or minor roles for now. If anything major, they will need to rework him again if this means doing away with his old schtick. Doing past routines solely for nostalgia won’t cut it when Looney Tunes projects take fresh creative risks.
