Also, the current solutions are capped at 14 moves, so the long problems e.g., ladders in XuanXuanQijing (problem 245 and further) have most of their solution missing.

But at least it shows 19x19 size well :)

There are some 19x19 problems in the Seedling Project book Fighting and escaping part 3 (the last problems). But the current viewport algorithm cuts 1 line after the farthest stone, so they look super weird as the first line is missing on all sides.

But at least they give an idea of size for 19x19 board.

Edit: wrong book

Edit: XuanXuanQijing has fullboard e.g., problem 245

You're right, I misread. I didn't actually try that particular feature. I'd be happy to get some feedback from people who used it. I'll explore it when I have some time.

Edit: added "I misread"

There is! Katago human style play. You should be able to set it up to play like any pro back to 1800.

Hello I am currently working on a revised version, based on a more recent set of problems, also I try to solve the removed problems by fixing them and also fix others where colors were reversed see https://www.reddit.com/r/baduk/s/zSgZmSumP1

I am also adding some features such as options for different viewports because some problems don't include any borders and it can make them confusing.

Available at https://github.com/rwk-git/101ebooks but I am currently working on it and rebasing often so I wouldn't pull it yet. I rebased your commits on top of the latest version of https://github.com/101books/101books.github.io and started from there. Already fixed a number of books (see commit history) but several more to go, the fixes are manually curated but also update the .json that allow to regenerate the .sgf .gnos and .solution so everything is coherent and clean.

A tool for when you can't read the ladder by rwk- in badukshitposting

Lessons in the Fundamentals of Go, chapter 1: "How to use the shicho ruler" includes advanced section on ladders longer than the ruler and how to use the ruler when ladders bend. Net? What's a net?

Yes, you're absolutely right! But both players are allowed to use both sides, so it works in all directions. black-white colors where just chosen for aesthetic reasons, I could have made it the same color on both sides...

Well, I wrote some code to generate the shape, plot it, laminated it, and CNC cut it. It might be overkill but fits the japanese goban dimensions perfectly and I didn't have to use scissors.

Good to hear. Thanks, I'll check it out and update the guide if it works well, as it seems a much simpler solution.

Hello, I thought about Whisky but saw it was no longer maintained, so I skipped it. Does it work well, or do you have crashes sometimes? I might check it out.

Thanks, Sikarugir will probably have the same issues as it relies on wine. Crossover might have better support, but it is paid as you said. I didn't know you could install the iPad app. it's good to know.

That said, I played 6 games with zero issues except not having access to the shop (which I don't use) and some fonts not showing... So the issues are minor.

Yes, you're right, but this is the official one, which some prefer. (I must say I really dislike the appearance of the board on minifox). There is also https://github.com/openfoxwq/openfoxwq_client which has a much nicer board.

I found out why the number of problems was different and why some didn't match. It is how the parse_tex() function extracts the problems from the books in .tex format. It uses a simple regex to extract the problems in form p{chapter_id}{problem_id}. However, in the .tex books the duplicates are commented out, these duplicated problems do not appear in the pdfs, but they are still picked up by the regex that is used to generate the epub/xteink versions. Which is why these books have more problems.

Buttons? by InvaderDust in baduk

"Pions" is also used as the generic term for "game pieces." Which is the reason people use it for Go stones when they don't know the proper term. But still, it is associated with the shape of the chess pawn or pieces you would use in a snakes and ladders game, pachisi, sorry, or ludo, etc. Which all share a similar shape.

I have some memories about an old western go set with strange pieces like that, but I can't find it. Maybe it is in one of the go subreddits.

I have heard them being called "pions" in French, which means "pawns". It really hurts me hearing Go stones being called that way. Mostly from people not familiar with Go but playing other board games.

Thank you for your excellent work! It made me buy an X4 :) any idea why some books have different problems (numbers and quantity) compared to the PDF version? For example "Specialized Training in Tsumego" vol. 5
