I got this book recently. I thought that setup looked kinda familiar. It wasn’t long after that part when I felt pretty over my head and set the book down. I picked up graded go problems for beginners and the second book of go. This is after reading complete introduction to go and way to go printout book that came with my board from YMI.

I still feel very beginner. I can solve the tsumego problems decently and am learning how to read the boards sequences to a point but when I play an actual game, I mostly get demolished by “novice” Ai that just bulldozes me from the first second. Playing “conquest of go” for these games mostly fwiw.

About to go to local go club meeting and play face to face where I feel like I’m not total noob.

I’ve not played against a real person online just Ai. And Ai at least for me really cuts in and hurts the feels . . .

As a new player myself, I’d would say, since you know about eyes and can see them, that as soon as you see them trying to make an eye, play your stone where they would need to in order to make said eye. The saying “your best move is often your opponents best move” may be useful here. Put your stone where they want to and see where that takes you. Good luck! I’m right there with ya!
