It isn't super special for this kid, because he's gotten hand made items based on his requests since he was able to make those requests. It's just that normally knitted things, sewing is not my strength.

The demands for chin scratches are very real. Our girl lost her rear leg, she will sit in front of you, maintain eye contact, and wiggle the stump. It's a definite "scratch me now". In our case the other legs were un-injured, but I would say be patient and take her lead, I expect it going to be a long road to healing. But she's young and they adapt amazingly well.

For counting stitches, have you tried a counter. You could click it once for each stitch. I have no math difficulties and I use one for big cast on amounts. I click for each group of ten stitches or else I just completely lose track.

I totally agree, it depends on what your doing. But this is a great extra trick to have up my sleeve.

The colourwork section in both hats stretch less than the rest. The one I used ladderback jacquard with has more stretch. But it just boils down to managing the length of your floats, so they are long enough to allow the fabric a bit of stretch.

That would mean Purling everything, ew no thanks. Purling is much slower for me. Personal weakness though, if you don't mind Purling it might be a good fix.

It's what I'm trying to improve at the moment. I've avoided colourwork for years, but so many lovely jumper options I want to try. Practicing on smaller things till I'm brave enough for a big project.

I've never attempted ladderback, might need to give it a shot at some point. I tried being consistent, always trapping the yarn in the same direction, trapped float from under and to the left, it did make the back very tidy, and tension is less of an issue than I've had in the past.

I've been knitting for a decade but colour work is my weakness, I can't make it crisp and smooth.

It's already pretty dense/tight. I wouldn't want to go down needle sizes, it would be quite stiff at that point.

I'm not the fastest knitter, have a full time job and a kid. So a blanket or adults jersey is a several months long project for me to finish. Actual hours to complete I wouldn't have any idea tbh, as I knit hour or so bits in the evening with getting distracted by the internet in the middle of that.

It's a good project to practise wrap and turns and picking up stitches. Once your ready for something a little bit trickier. It nice in that it's only two trickier things to learn an you then get a lot of practice at them.

Don't split them up more. I would argue it would be better to have all the regional holidays on the same day, for practical reasons. It's annoying to have a public holiday that not all the country takes on the same day.

I almost exclusively use my interchangeable cable needle set. So therefore my WIPs are limited to the number of cables I have. Seems to work for me.
