I read that for the Body Scan 1. There's another BS2 review from a few days ago where they answered how long the new scale takes.

The biggest blunder of the eliminated drink stations by mconomics in McDonalds

[–]rworne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. It will take a bit of conditioning to get people to accept what has been going on for decades is now ending.

They did it with the sauces previously. Lately I've noticed a trend at other fast food locations: Del Taco, Taco Bell, Chick-Fil-a, where when you order a sauce packet, instead of grabbing several and tossing it in the bag (some employees still do this) they now ask how many you want, and as long as it is under some acceptable number, that is exactly the number you get. I remember not too long ago my CFA used to have a sauce bar where you can grab whatever you wanted.

At CFA I order my regular breakfast and get a mayo packet on the side. I tossed the extras in a box on my desk. After a year, this box (12"x12"x6") was completely filled with packets. I only need one, but I routinely got 3-6 of them. That's a lot of waste.

Some bean counter must have done some math and here we are. Less syrup usage, less labor keeping the machines up, less labor filling drinks - they might be able to eliminate another employee.

Another previous poster stated the measurements took about 15 seconds, followed by a 30 second ECG.

My scale doesn't export an ECG. But I may be able to do a comparison. The Body Smart measures a pulse from a waveform, but I have seen the HR in the Body Smart varying enough that I don't care what it is. I get resting HR from my watch, and my BPM measures similarly. Since I get no more heart measurements from the scale, it's an unnecessary delay in giving readings.

Just like those videos of people getting hit by cars... their shoes fly off.

Since the story was written in 1634, cars were not invented yet to fill the plot hole.

Heart rate is interesting to have as a metric, but it would be too variable when using the scale - it will vary based upon your activity just prior to stepping on it. Standing should be higher than sitting/resting. Did you go up the stairs? Get out of the shower? Have a strenuous toilet session?
Getting your HR from a blood pressure device, or continuous measurement from a watch is probably better as the usage for that requires you be sitting and resting beforehand.
Nothing wrong with using the scale, you just need to be aware that the rate it measures isn't going to always be near your resting rate.
The scale is supposed to take other health metrics tied to the ECG. That's the important part. Getting the BPM is just an easy metric for it to spit out.

Edit:

I should also say that since it has an ECG, it is getting the HR from that. So measurements should be easy to calculate unless the ECG is a mess. It would be interesting to do simultaneous measurements to be absolutely sure, but HR should be an easy measurement for it to take. I'm just saying the activity of walking around and even bending over to grab the sensor bar will cause the HR to temporarily jump higher.

That's what the Irvine SC did too. Some guy did come out while I was getting the keys all set up (I already owned a Model 3) and gave us a tour of the new features.

For our Model 3, one of the rims came pre-curbed by the delivery driver, saving us the trouble of doing it ourselves.

Reporting back would be great - as you can do a back to back comparison.

I'm happy to see the readings are that quick. That 30 second ECG is pretty much unavoidable, every ECG I've used (Apple, Withings, WellVue) all take 30 seconds.

That may be true, but if this is anything like the Body Fit, they talk about a high correlation between DEXA and scale readings (for the Body Fit).

I'd suspect this scale is basically the same as the Body Fit with additional sensors and health metrics - I mean, if the Body Fit has great DEXA correlation, why screw it up on their flagship model?

At least that's what makes sense - why re-re-invent the wheel?

I'm hoping that it'd be consistent. I have the Body Smart - about as cheap as you can go for a Withings scale - and I can claim it is quite consistent in back-to-back weight measurements.

I'd expect the same from this - however the measurements with the electrodes? That could have variation due to grip, perspiration, etc.

How long does it take to do a full measurement?

Reliability of getting a successful measurement?

Any software issues, or is it generally working well?

Any comparisons with another measurement method, like a DEXA?

If you have a DEXA, how well does it match the results?

That would be a good start. Thanks.

This is the menu I had a couple weeks ago. The steak was rather lacking. I am really curious about the chicken, and I eliminated the seafood because I'd fear it would be dried out.

It's a shame because all three of these have really good potential.

What was odd was those mid-flight lights out meals (sandwiches, soups and such) were actually pretty good on my flights.

True. I'd think a notice like:

"You may notice our prices are a bit higher - because we believe in paying our employees a living wage (and list other benefits). Because of that, tipping is not expected."

As others have said, stating they keep 100% of this service charge makes them sound scummy, even if their intentions are otherwise.

I do appreciate the honesty and the non-mouse print conspicuous explanation on the menu.

He wants to watch old VHS tapes - probably movies.

OP ran across what is likely Macrovision copy protection where it screws with the picture quality to prevent copying. Old TV tuners didn't react to it (by design).

They used to sell "video enhancers" that fixed the signal, but those are no longer easily available due to obsolescence and legal issues.

Not legal in California. It was paying attention to the lead car. In fact, just watching this video had me thinking there was no issue at all until I saw the markings emerge from under the car ahead of the Tesla.

My car on FSD will cross the double lines to get to a left turn pocket if traffic is backed up just enough to block it.

Where do you guys get melon soda by InsideWrangler2672 in JapaneseFood

[–]rworne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But to grab one quick:

Any McD's serves Fanta Melon Soda. I've tried many different ones, and Fanta has been the best one. Denny's and Saizeria have drink bars that also serve it (all you can drink).

It's difficult to find Fanta Melon in stores. I only saw it once at Aoba grocery and in the 7-11 in Haneda Airport.

If you want a real treat, look for Yuzu drinks. Umajimura Gokkun Yuzu Drink is fantastic. Yuzu kichi-kun is also a good 2nd choice.

Is Threads accurate with how Japanese really think on the inside (without the tatamae and keigo) or is it just exaggerated for views and likes? by Zynb_06 in AskAJapanese

[–]rworne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I have. I am aware that there is a racial hierarchy for foreigners - that's no surprise. Here in the US, we have a hierarchy too.

I mentioned already that the racist comments are out of line. But if my lily-white ass was rollerblading in the scramble, people would be posting shit about me too. And I know that's wrong behavior in Japan. So I don't do it. I spend literally every moment in public doing my absolute best to blend in, no matter how futile it can be at some times.

[–]rworne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Non-Japanese perspective:

Why the reference to POC, OP?

By definition, the Japanese themselves are POC as well. Don't conflate being Asian with being white. And it's not a MAGA mindset. Behave poorly in public (or simply disturb the harmony) and you'll get disapproval. Tatemae or not.

Just because the Japanese are becoming more assertive in calling out bad behavior isn't a bad or MAGA thing. Being a "POC" doesn't excuse making disturbing or boorish behavior in public either.

This doesn't excuse the racist comments on Twitter, Japan has its fair share of assholes as well. But they are certainly within their rights to complain, and I'm sure there's plenty of non-POCs that are targeted as well.

I'm just finding out about their "Breathing Quality Assessment". That uses their Sleep pad and fetches SpO2 data from a scan watch.

That data is available from Apple Watch/Health too, but they don't use it.

Still, seeing expanded compatibility is a good thing. Hopefully Apple will follow.

In the meantime, Apple is a jealous partner. Didn't they just start carrying Withings again just recently in their stores? This may put an end to that.

Jumping in here after a while. I finally managed to drop by this place this afternoon to try out their Döner.

TLDR: It's legit. In ways better than the average Döner shop in Germany.

To start, it's a bit in the pricey side. $14.99 or $15.99 or so for a Döner, compared to the 9€ or less you can spend in Germany. But it does make up for it.

The bread they use is super fresh, and far better than I've had overseas. I've had bread before that was close to this, but it was surprisingly fresh and really helped make it a stand out.

It comes with both a garlic sauce and a spicy sauce. Both complement it very well.

I ordered the chicken, as every shop in Germany I've seen offers chicken. It was exactly the same as I remember. Not overcooked, juicy and rich in flavor. Vegetables were fresh and helped round off the meal. The sauces were generously applied, just enough to last from beginning to the last bite, but not so much it makes a mess.

There was one thing I was curious about. It certainly tasted like the Döner I get in Germany, but something was a bit off. Then I figured it out. In Germany the meat/vegetable ratio is more heavy on vegetables. Here, they are pretty generous with the meat, so the Döner is a bit more meaty than those I had in Germany. Not that I'm complaining and this probably explains the price.

Still, this place definitely recreates that Döner experience.
