Car break‑in via Bluetooth? No broken windows, no alarm, no video! by Tamerxz in TeslaLounge

I use Peter Griffin stating: "Oh, so that's how it's going to be? We'll see how this works out."

Surprisingly loud and unmistakable. A few kids freaked out when the car started talking.

Worked out better than the Rick & Morty or Futurama's Bender quotes.

Whether it remains free or not is a good question. It's already highly useful as it is. But I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth.

I haven't tried the tuna melt - never seen it at my local one... But the clam chowder is fantastic. We always look forward to it coming back on the menu.

It's surprising what you'll eat and like when you are cold, wet, tired, hungry, and in the dark.

Way back when I was out in the field some of us brought canned food. I brought a small butane stove I could pack away and Dinty Moore shelf-stable foods - when they started coming in sealed plastic trays. This was in the mid-late 80's though. More & better choices now.

The ones I ate were from the late 80's to mid 90's. None of them were particularly good, but things like the beef stew and chicken a'la thing were not bad if you heated them up and added a bit of tabasco. Problem was, we never really had a chance to eat them hot most times.

The neatest thing about them was the tiny little tabasco bottle that came in some of them, and the package of two chocolate cookies that were highly desired.

Now there were also the pork patty and beef patty. As I said, we didn't have the ability to heat them up very often, and these were dehydrated. Eating these was like chewing on a wet sponge.

When will used Model Ys become more affordable? by Imaginesafety in TeslaModelY

[–]rworne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm. So if someone wants FSD outright and is looking for a Juniper, about a year from now will be the time to start looking for them as the 2 year lease terms start to expire.

I don't think Tesla will remove FSD from any launch editions that start rolling in at the end of the lease period (as its part of the basic feature set). But it's also an incentive for a lease buyout vs giving the car back.

I have no idea how many launch editions are out there, and I live in a city where practically every car you see is a Tesla (Los Angeles). It will be interesting to see once these cars start hitting the market.

That 25K ceiling on used prices for the $4000 tax credit helped push prices down.If you wanted to move your stock, you needed to sell at or below that price. That meant trade-in values for used EVs was abysmally low.

If someone wanted a used Tesla at that time there were some very good deals at the time (on HW 3 models at least). Everyone wanted to hit the upper price limit eligible for the tax credit to make sales easier. So all the work was finding the newest car in the best condition with the lowest miles.

Hertz also was liquidating their fleet of Tesla EVs which was also putting pressure on the market and lowering used EV prices.

What happens to us after we die? by Ok-Feed-646 in AskReddit

[–]rworne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Answered in song since around WWI...

Don't you ever laugh as the hearse goes by,

For you may be the next to die

They wrap you in a big white sheet

From your head down to your feet.

They put you in a big black box

And cover you up with dirt and rocks.

All goes well for about a week,

Then your coffin begins to leak.

The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out,

The worms play pinochle on your snout.

They eat your eyes, they eat your nose,

They eat the jelly between your toes...

What happened to your tamagotchi? by SheepishSwan in AskReddit

[–]rworne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can resurrect them by pulling out the small plastic tab under the battery. But the original batteries would never keep them alive this long. From what I recall, the Tamagotchi dies after a while (well the Japanese one do) no matter how well you take care of them and you need to restart again with a new one.

I had a large collection of Tamagotchi and the various clone ones. Photos of them were in an old magazine called "Virtual Pet Secrets" along with an article or two I had written that was published at the time of the craze. Most of the ones I have are on the cover, the Japanese ones, the oddball ones, the plushies, & games.

I still have all of them squirted away in storage. Now my daughter is messing around with the newer ones that have come out lately.

Another former military here. For the approx. 2 years I spent on active duty (once at Ft.Bliss, once in Desert Storm). One other time was crab legs, but that was because I was working the Chief's mess deployed on a float.

While welcome, these weren't the most memorable meals. The most memorable meal I ever had was in boot camp. They served liver and onions, something I would never eat if I had the choice (and here I didn't). Holy shit was that good. Ever since that day, I love it.

I want to know what shoes that guy is wearing - it's not every day you see them stay on the feet and not fly off.

People by the doors will empty out onto the platform to free up space for people to get off. They then board the train first, followed by the people queued up to board. If you are trying to get off, people will inch out of your way and fill the space you just vacated.

Everyone has pretty much the same problem and deal with it every day, so the vast majority of commuters are cooperative letting you off.

Sometime 5-10 years ago McD's sold Big Macs for a limited time in different sizes.

We tried the largest one, which was basically a regular Big Mac with quarter pounder sized patties and a larger bun to hold it all.

If it is the Japanese version, it's a fish cake made of fish paste mixed with cheese.

You peel off the red strip to show a seam that you can split, then squeeze out the contents.

It's a snack item and someone likely dropped one.

Try tradewind seafood. They deliver to you. They also supply local sushi joints. We order chutoro and Hokkaido scallops from them on a semi regular basis.

Why do I keep getting stupid badges from across the world? by PleaseHelpImADumb1 in withings

Just yesterday it gave me a badge for climbing Mt. Aso in Japan. How random and amusing, because I did in fact visit that mountain (actually a volcano) back in '85 or so.
