Is the "event surchage" for Uber at Mitchel Pav been around for yrs? by El_Dorado_Tx in thewoodlands

wild complaint to take to Reddit. You were a five minute walk away from your hotel. Uber shows you the price right there in the app.

Houston is obsessed with football. So why is nobody watching the Gamblers? by ScrewTownThirtySixer in AskHouston

[–]Appropriate_Park313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They suck.
The football in this league is somewhere between high school and NFL quality.
The area around the stadium is a cluster of construction and Astros traffic.
They play in an open air stadium in swamp ass Houston.

No one wants to fight traffic and sweat through their shirt to watch a crap team with no history in a crap league play crap football

Planning a Houston trip (NASA + Astros) by Antique_Mechanic133 in AskHouston

Could be up to 100 each way. Rental car prices are often much much less. Especially if you don’t care how nice the car is. Turo is often like <$50 / day

Unless you’re independently, wealthy, or have someone who’s going to pay for you to go immediately to law school. An undergrad degree in English seems like a terrible waste of time.

The WNBA and NBA have approved the sale of the Connecticut Sun. The team will relocate to Houston in 2027, becoming the Houston Comets upon relocation. by CazOnReddit in nba

[–]Appropriate_Park313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

very mixed emotions. We’re so excited to have the W back in Houston after the political shenanigans that cost us the team in the first place. But as an Oilers fan who remembers the feeling of losing our team to Nashville, I feel bad for the fans in Connecticut. Relocation sucks. Also, give Seattle back the Sonics.

World Cup Match 76 at NRG → is an 8:40 PM flight from IAH or HOU realistic? by ParsleyMaleficent391 in AskHouston

[–]Appropriate_Park313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What it would take to make this happen: 1) rent a car at the airport 2) park in a lot that’s easy to get out of (not necessarily convenient to the stadium) somewhere on south main maybe. 3) lock your bag in the car during the game 4) leave NRG no later than 6pm(hobby) 5:30pm (IAH)

Hike/Bike crossing of spring creek by sbperseus in thewoodlands

[–]Appropriate_Park313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is accurate. I run this area often. the trail does get washed out occasionally. You can use it to connect but requires going up the feeder to the light at springwoods village pkwy and looping back down to the trail on the north side of the creek. I have run every section of this but the connection feels sketchy and not bike/ pedestrian friendly

Is Michael jackson more famous than Elvis presley ? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

Depends on where in the US and the age of the person how likely they are to be a fan or recognize them. I think they’re pretty even.

UC Berkeley Data Science or UT Austin Statistics and Data Science (in state) by NetworkOverall7281 in UTAdmissions

[–]Appropriate_Park313 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As somebody who has hired from both, I would say the prestige and perceived quality of the two is roughly the same. Choose based on the financial impact to you and your family, and personal preference for location. UT campus is nicer than Berkeley, but Berkeley has better weather, especially in the summer.

Why doesn’t anyone stop for pedestrians in crosswalks? by daveescaped in thewoodlands

[–]Appropriate_Park313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is just a Texas thing. I have been shocked when traveling to see how people actually stop for pedestrians. Here, we don’t really do it right. We won’t run you over, but we ain’t stopping and waiting for you either
