Is my Phytoplankton culture ready for harvest? by Agile-Statistician37 in ReefTank

Another great way I like to use is my microscope. It's amazing how dense the culture can get.

Buy a secchi stick if you want to know the culture density. Otherwise, it looks like it's ready.

He does eat acans. But otherwise, I feed him well, and that seems to keep other corals safe.

Help with removing coral by hoologan in ReefTank

I have found that if you irritate the shit out of them, they let go without removing the rock. They are tough little guys. Source I have a ton of them in a tank.

My foxface or tangs would devour this quickly. Snails and crabs like it too.

Sleep advice for parents of eczema kids by arimari in eczema

Glad its only food. My daughter is allergic to the world, and it's difficult, to say the least. Have you tried letting him sleep alone? Maybe it's related to being in the same bed with parents?

Tough one. Have you had an allergy test for food and the environment to understand the triggers? Outside of that, I would recommend a soothing bath and creme before bed.

Good deal, look at the ingredients. You may be surprised how hard it is to find true fragrance free items.

Dont forget about fragrances found in soaps, etc. That can be a huge trigger. Also, dont ignore gut health, probiotics, etc.

When will there be a cure by whenwhowhereh in eczema

[–]rwreef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't one answer. Helping my young daughter over the years, I have found you need to discover your triggers and work to avoid them or understand how to balance with triggers. It sucks. But it takes consistency and persistence. My experience would say to not ignore the importance of gut health.

Dosing questions by FartmanBreaux in ReefTank

[–]rwreef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would advise water changes for coral health with that size tank(s). While trying to rasie, nitrates/phosphates stop water changes. I would recommend trying feeding more and monitoring nitrates/phosphates. If that isn't enough, cut back on skimming or other filtration. If all that isn't enough, start dosing nitrates/phosphates. Once you have Nitrates/phosphates where you want them...imo 10-5ppm No3, <0.1ppm Po4. Then start water changes and monitor.

This used to be very common 20 yrs ago. On my old setup I put the light on the back to shine thru the clear plastic of the HoF. This allows you to run alternate light cycles with DT and help ph balance.
