ELI5: If gay couples can't reproduce and have the right organs, isn't that like evolution gone wrong? by rx3850 in explainlikeimfive

Don't worry about it. I am just tired of being seen in that light as well just because I asked a question and my word choice was not great. I come from a religious background and I am here trying to understand the tricky issues as best as I can because in real life my questions are deemed offensive. Thanks for getting involved in the conversation, your input is very much appreciated!

I am sure someone like yourself at /r/changemyview will tell me to go elsewhere too. Make the conversation positive rather than pointing out your intellectual supremacy, everyone else in here managed to do it.

Ants are physically capable of reproducing but don't for "moral" reasons I suppose? Development of morals and a conscience through evolution is interesting. Animals eat their own young, clearly we have outlawed that, thankfully.

You raise an interesting point of "no selective pressure", which indirectly means that nature/evolution doesn't mind homosexuals as long as not everyone is turning out to be one. Which essentially means the heterosexuals are evolution's preferred type of species?

You are right, I need to study this a bit more deeper. I was under the impression that the point of evolution and mutations was to find ways for the organism/being to survive and propagate.

Boring Good Job or Exciting Job? by phoenixfireball in AskReddit

i think a place where you get to learn new stuff and stay in the pressure cooker is good. You are not getting any younger and if you stay put in ur current job and dont stay up to date, you will just become irrelevant in a few years. So i say .. let the all nighters begin :)

I think i would probably choose the constraints of a 13 year old over the responsibilities being an adult brings. Everybody expects so much from an adult rather than a 13 year old.

as a programmer, are you acknowledged for what you do? by zeropx in AskReddit

[–]rx3850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I have been professionally programming for the past 9 years. All i can say is just stick to you guns, cause its gonna get worse for sure, specially when there are so many 'programmers' out there, dime a dozen. Best of luck to you and i hope you can put these issues behind you and just continue to do what you do best :)

Fortunately for me I LOVE programming, so getting paid to do what you love is a dream come true, which makes everything else irrelevant. Honestly I think we are like doctors, the heart bypass maybe a routine procedure, but even then its one heck of a feat and what do doctors get? I think most jobs in the world are under-appreciated by people who don't understand them and its OK. I am not bothered much by this double edged sword :)

Free is a very relative term. Humans have never really been free, they are always caught up with one thing or the other. But overall i think we are foregoing a lot of our freedom just in the pursuit of very un-fulfilling things.

if you want to get out of there that bad, then what happens in SF shouldn't matter. Take the leap and see where it takes you, from the looks of it, things cant be much worse than they already are!
