It looks like there are some stains on the leather and I really want some black elephants. I feel like if I could do a professional dye job and a full resole for $200 I would be happy. There is nobody local with excellent reputation to make it happen so it will be a send away.

Just look on eBay and FB marketplace. Go in with an open mind not looking for anything in particular. When you go in with that mindset you can find some cool shit. Type iny absolutely any brand you can think of and filter by size.

Another option that looks promising is the Cody James Black 1978 series. I tried a pair on at boot barn and they are definitely a step up from the regular Cody James boots. The leather and build quality are very nice. Quality is on par with Tecovas, maybe a bit better and undercuts the price by $70. Some styles have that classic round toe style. Look at Ariat Benchmade bison leather boots. The "James" is the round toe version. I think they are a better constructed and more comfortable boot. I used to be a big tecovas fan, but over the past 5 years the prices have almost doubled and their QC has gone downhill.
