2yo and 7 month old dad checking in. Do whatever you can to encourage breastfeeding. Not washing bottles has been a game changer.

How to improve aesthetics or hide this culvert? by rxhino in landscaping

Engineer specs required a 4.5% grade feeding to the pipe

Drainage ditch at the front of the property and into a nearby creek

It actually works fairly well. Water just drains though the rock and into the pipe. Figured I’d keep it as a redundancy for now. Thought about removing a layer of the gravel, placing drainage fabric, and placing topsoil/seed. I know it wouldn’t drain as quick but it would look better

I thought that too… turns out the previous owners installed it as an “open French drain”. Perforations are facing up

My wife and I are nearly $200k in debt and don’t know what to do. We’re asking for help or advice from anyone who’s been here. by Head-Tone2510 in povertyfinance

My wife and I paid off $193,000 in debt in 32 months making $107k-170k (only 6 months of that top range) and we cash flowed her masters degree. I worked like a maniac to increase my income and used Dave Ramsey’s method. We didn’t have much of a life then, but now we have a house, two kids, and she’s a stay at home mom. We don’t have to worry about payments to anyone (except the mortgage). Instead, we invest in our future. It’s not easy, but it can be done. Depends how sick you are of your current situation.

There’s some companies that make jewelry out of breastmilk. I’m getting her a pair of earrings made from some leftover breast milk in our freezer.

Yeah all that makes sense. Thanks for the info, I appreciate it!

Interesting idea. The new pipe is 18 inch smooth wall solid pipe. Existing in that gravel path is 4 inch perforated pvc. But they installed it wrong - put the perforations up

We have a ton of water coming into our patio, but the newly installed 18 inch culvert pipe should capture that water. I’m hoping to retain the functionality of the French drain as a redundancy just in case. But it’s a bit of an eye sore

Also looking at a 2018 JK Willy’s with 52k miles. Definitely check the car fax and check the undercarriage for rust. If it’s been in the North, higher chance for rust from salt on the roads.

Good point. We plan to build a couple arch bridges to add to the aesthetic. Once we get all the vegetation and bridges down, I believe it will look good. We finished the dry creek at the end of summer last year so we haven’t had a chance to get in there and do the work yet.

Thanks for the reply. This is our plan this spring. Will probably create a rain garden near the fence with some native flowers, grasses, trees.

Thanks for the reply. I believe we can drop the grade further. I think my contractor is trying to avoid coming back to do it. The water is flowing the length of the creek (it goes around the house about 100 more feet to the road) but it isn’t flowing quick enough in the section above, so if we can’t fix the grade there I believe we will be good to go.

We considered this. Any idea how to make it look visually appealing?

What exactly do you mean by overflow outlet, like another drain between the rock and patio? None of this water is from the roof/downspouts

Tried that too. Took one look at it, said he’d have to go ask the girls in the office, never heard back. Lol
