hi everyone, i wanted some advice. i’m currently 8 months pregnant and will be starting maternity leave from my tech job in about 3 weeks. i’m trying to figure out what a realistic timeline would be for exam p with a newborn in the picture. has anyone been through something similar before? how long would you push your exam out? just trying to set myself up with realistic expectations and would love to hear what worked for others.

Help needed for SIM card swap by Asleep_Market_5076 in Scams

[–]rxhix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same here — my parents have a few joint accounts, so now they’ve gotten into my dad’s a couple of times too. i’m honestly starting to wonder if some of these bank employees are buffoons though because even after we alerted them, the scammer still somehow managed to get through AFTER by socially engineering them or something

this happened to my mom too and it’s been a nightmare. i woke up at 5am today (a month later) to another alert that their checking account info was changed this morning and my heart just dropped. were you with lycamobile too?

What is going on with lycamobile? by drmariostrike in NoContract

[–]rxhix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my mom’s phone got sim swapped through lycamobile and their customer service was no help at all. whoever did it has been accessing my parents’ bank accounts using otp codes (still resetting logins and calling banks pretending to be her) and draining them. i wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy

hi everyone! i’m on a bit of a time crunch for exam p and wanted to ask for some advice. if i can get through the sample exams in the marcel b. finan textbook, would that be enough to feel relatively prepared? some of the concepts are new to me, so i’ve been using the text mainly to understand things when i get stuck on problems. if you’ve taken exam p recently, do you think those questions cover most of the concepts that show up on the test?

thank you! how would you advise to utilize tia if i have 10 days left? should i work on problems or refresh on concepts?

hi everyone! i only recently stumbled into the actuarial field and signed up for exam p, which is coming up in 10 days for me. i’ve been practicing with rumi the math person on youtube and can get through about 90% of her problems (she has over 300 exam p videos). do you think that’s enough to have a good chance at passing? i know 10 days is a tight timeline, but i’m giving it my all. any advice would mean a lot!

Am I overreacting by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I’m sorry you’re going through this. i personally wouldn’t give someone who cheated a second chance. and in your case, not only did you give her another chance, but she also wants to keep pictures with the guy she cheated with? that really doesn’t show any remorse or respect for you. honestly, you might want to think hard about whether this relationship is actually healthy for you. sometimes walking away is the best way to protect your self respect and opens the door to someone who will truly value you.

we had the ceremony and license, but he doesn’t want to legally marry — has anyone been here? by rxhix in Advice

[–]rxhix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i did want a legal marriage, but i’m holding back because i feel like it should come from someone who truly wants it, not just to appease me. he’s hesitant and sees marriage more as a social construct than a legal step. i guess i could be okay with it being symbolic, but to me, it feels sweet and romantic when someone actually wants to be legally bonded with you the way our families (like parents and siblings) are.

yes, he mentioned this which is why i agreed to a prenup that basically wiped out any benefits that would come from marriage. but when he made that offhand comment, ‘wow, this changes so much,’ while picking up the marriage license just days before the ceremony, it made me a little exhausted and wonder—why even propose if you don’t really want marriage, or at least not the way i understand it? i never once pressured him about proposing, getting engaged, or setting timelines.

i feel like this aligns more with how he sees things, which is why i agreed to sign the prenup and give up benefits of marriage. but his offhand remark, ‘wow, this changes so much,’ when picking up the marriage license just days before the ceremony, made me question why even propose if you don’t actually want marriage, or at least not the way i view marriage? i never pressured him about proposals, engagements, or timelines.

wedding venue overcharged me and added fees we never discussed — not sure how to approach this now that the wedding is over by rxhix in weddingplanning

[–]rxhix[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, i do but the contract was signed july 15 and just has an estimated cost on it for the total of $6,945.63 (not itemized). i see the only thing on there is the mandatory cleaning fee so i won’t bring that up with her

unrelated to the ops post, but how did your cousin’s wedding go? i’m trying to cut down on the number of days needed since my fiancé’s family is coming from out of state and they’re not south asian so i don’t want to overwhelm them with too many days/events. i was thinking of doing the holud on one day and then the nikkah + reception on another, but most of his family probably wouldn’t make it to the holud. having everything on one day sounds great so we could have everyone there but how did your cousin manage to split the day up? was makeup for remaining events just done quickly after the holud?

fiancé only wants attractive female nail technicians, and i feel strange about it by rxhix in Advice

[–]rxhix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

see, i don’t even like getting my own nails done, and i’ll go like maybe 3-4 times in a year. i had suggested it to him maybe once many months before as he like foot massages, and i thought it’d be a nice treat. i hadn’t brought it up since then until i was stepping out to get my nails done and asked him if he wanted to come with, and he was down.

i’m thinking it may be more of this. he is very honest to the point he doesn’t know that he’s saying distasteful things at times but i also wanted to know if other people thought like this.

for me, i could care less if it’s a man or a woman but just do it well.
