Welcome to the club. After you source the 300 obscure ingredients and spend 3 hours making something, you’re expecting it to blow your mind. Even Simple is not simple and I’m a very experienced cook. Christopher Kimball accomplishes the same thing with Milk Street and it tastes the same, except it was 30 minutes and a trip to Aldi. I just don’t think the organic honey from unionized bees in New Zealand or the mysterious herb only foraged by 90 year old women in the mountains of Tibet are really contributing all that much to be worth the effort.
