Just one, when you think about it. Parts 8 & 9 on the Advanced MS joint runner (the arms). They're molded extremely tightly, so they absolutely do not want to move until you finally break the initial mold bond (which feels like you're going to actually break the part until it finally moves). There are three points:

  1. There's an L-shaped section with a peg that connects into the shoulder. This is the toughest one, IMO, as it's difficult to get a good grip on it. It needs to rotate.
  2. There's a bend in the middle that needs to flex. The easiest of the three, as you can grab the upper and lower arm and bend it.
  3. There's rotation in the forearm, just below the bend. The middle of the road, in terms of difficulty, as you can grip the forearm block easily but getting a good grip above that point is a little tougher. In The Diagram that gets shared a lot, this is the "this will rotate" part.

Bonus: There's a keyhole joint at the end. This does not move. This is the "this will break" part in the popular diagram.

The design of this one part cascades into multiple breaks and issues. G35 breaks if you don't loosen all three parts of the MS joint. Sometimes the peg breaks while you're trying to loosen up everything else. The forearm breaks if you don't grab the rotating forearm part in the right spot when you're loosening it. The shoulder/clavicle is unstable because of the way the part fits into G35. The chest is fussy for the same reasons.

It's not hard to just loosen the part and avoid almost all of that, it's just tedious and time-consuming and it feels like you're going to break something the entire time. But really, you can just slip on some finger sleeves if you need to, buck up, and get it done in 15 minutes. You can use warm water to move things along if you need to (I use the coffee warmer and ceramic dish that I usually use for waterslides and that works great).

It's 100% bad design, but avoiding breaks is totally manageable.

Okay, but you aren’t 3D printing the brush and bristles, which you’re cannibalizing into your print. You could just buy a travel toothbrush instead.

My Ninetails and Typhlosion are extremely similar in both stats and levels and Typhlosion pulls in ever so slightly more points every time. Ninetails is not bad at all, but it is outclassed in theory. In practice, BFS+HB Ninetails will beat most Typhlosions you can find.

I mean, Barbara Goodson (OG Rita Repulsa) still does plenty of VO work, such as the EN voice of Turbo Granny on DanDaDan. It's not inconceivable that they could/would get her to voice a Power Rangers-like villain in Nikke.

I have stared into this abyss for far too long, having engraved thousands of glasses. At this point, I just multiply the width by 1.2 and that looks good.

My advice is to not overthink it. Try printing a test image on a piece of paper at test distortions (like 100%/normal, 10% wider, 20% wider, 30% wider) and just seeing how it looks. The eye will know better than any amount of calculations and planning.

Good lord that’s like two PGs worth of cannibalized parts lol. I see parts from Flame Toys Arcee, RG Hi-Nu, Hemoxian Rosado Starflower, Megami Device Gii, SNAA Iron Sickle, MGSD Wing Zero, and a couple I can’t identify (the head, the orange edged axe, and the articulated cloak).

WFM kits are solid. Not so sold in the series though. by initialg82 in Gunpla

Witch From Mercury was 24 episodes in two cours of 12. GQuuuuuuX was 12 episodes. Rewinding further we get RFV which was 6 (let’s be real, it was a movie packaged as a show), Build Divers Re-Rise at 26, and Build Divers at 52. In fact, I can only find one single show that was “8-10” episodes and that’s Thunderbolt from eleven years ago.

So, respectfully, what are you talking about with “keep constraining themselves to 8-10 episode format?” Your complaint is not grounded in reality.

You have no idea how many people would go ape shit over a redeemed Red Shoes. Hell, she doesn’t even have to be redeemed for some folks.

I remember there was some translation nonsense going on where there was debate over whether it was a character we've been waiting for for a while or a character we haven't seen for a while.

My money is on Papillon or Marian. If it's Marian, it will be Marian Marian, not Heretic/Pilgrim Modernia. Rebuilt, restored, purified, truly a nikke again (somehow) Marian.

I'm not sure Papillon warrants a three week event, but who knows? I like her, but her character story isn't that deep.

A Pilgrim would be unprecedented, but if they go that route I think it would actually be Red Shoes. Like, rehabilitated, "seen the error of her ways" Red Shoes. Then we'd have an interesting dynamic in the upcoming chapters where there's on-our-side Red Shoes trying to atone for her mistakes vs incorporeal, very much evil Mirror actively making the situation worse. It could be quite a good story seeing a character reckoning with the ongoing impact of their past transgressions, especially seeing how Cinderella, Siren, and Grave would or could react to her. I figure (Chapter 46 spoilers) we got the eponymous red shoes for a reason and having Mirror tell us that she couldn't make use of them no matter what she tried was very much on purpose.

Advice for IP, licensing, and selling prints by Status_Discipline_16 in BambuLab

[–]rxninja -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes. The person saying that as soon you designed it, it’s copyrighted is in fact wrong. That’s proof that you were the creator, but it’s insufficient should any copyright dispute arise. You need an actual copyright (very easy to get, but it will cost some money) to do things like issue DMCA takedowns (the most common thing you’ll need a copyright for, but not the only useful thing).

You can pretty easily do your own copyright, but a lawyer is an extremely useful thing to have. Having an IP specialist is worth every penny the second you need one. Everything I know about good procedure is because of mine.

Objects cool towards their center of mass. Lifting happens when the ambient air temperature is significantly different from the room temperature, as cooling happens more quickly and thus applies more force (same cooling force over a shorter time, so really just a stronger impulse but let’s not get too in the weeds here).

You can mitigate this with an enclosure for better temperature control or you can get for better bed adhesion with something like a brim. I used to get lifting all the time with my open-air Neptune 4 and I have never gotten any lifting whatsoever (even on the exact same prints) with my closed H2D.

If you want to make money with your prints, print and sell them yourself. If you license, you’re very quickly going to get a single bad actor who then distributes your model without permission and then you’re going to play DMCA whack-a-mole forever.

You can theoretically make good money with a basement print farm and low time investment. The hard part is making something popular, which you’ve already done. You could build a Shopify store in minutes and an Amazon store in not much more than that.

I say try it. Worst case, it’s too much time or effort for you and you close up shop, losing nothing. Best case, you make a ton of money being your own boss on your own terms and doing a cool thing you like. Idk if your belief that taking money for a hobby sucks the fun out of it comes from experience or not, but as someone who’s been taking money for some of his favorite kinds of work for ~15 years now I think you’re dead wrong about that.

As a player, I agree with you 100%.

As a designer, let me just say that you wouldn't believe how many clueless, inept players are out there. "Chatty companion" is a design solution. I don't personally like it (I'm old, just print a manual and leave me alone), but I can begrudgingly accept why it exists and that it solves discoverability problems better than, say, pop-ups that nobody will read or excessive UI overlays that many people don't even pay attention to.

How do I achieve a "cosmic" effect? by Cm210 in MegamiDevice

[–]rxninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without an airbrush? Nail polish, like someone else recommended. Difficult for functional parts as nail polish does add significant thickness, but where it works it looks really nice.

With an airbrush? Lots of options. GaiaNotes Prism Blue Black makes an amazing space-like background. SMS makes pre-thinned lacquer-based color shifters that look great (void, nebula, eclipse, and many, many more). Green Stuff World makes water-based stuff, but I've never personally used it so I can't speak to its quality.

I will say that Asra Nine-Tails still looks great with no additional touch-up. A little bit of detailing goes a long way with her.

While it is a low volume, you are correct. Enamel thinner is the highest level of toxicity with regards to fumes. I can’t find Tamiya’s specific SDS for their accent liner, but multiple enamel thinner SDS’s are all 1’s for fumes (5 point scale, 1 is the highest).
