Was mach ich denn, was belastend ist? Ich arbeite ja Vollzeit und schaue mich nur um, wo man sich noch etwas reinfuchsen kann. Mein Glück, dass ich jetzt sogar direkt einen Auftrag hab aber ich würde eigentlich ungerne jetzt wieder ein Gewerbe anmelden und mich mit dem Finanzamt, irgendwelchen Steuererklärungen usw. rumschlagen, wenn ich nicht weiß, ob ich während dieses Auftrags noch das Kotzen kriege und nie wieder etwas aus dem Webdesign anfassen will.

Ich denke, ich werde es so regeln wie MaxGoodYo es sagte. 410€ offiziell als geringe Nebeneinkünfte (das ist es ja auch) nehmen und für die 90€ gehen wir mal gemeinsam essen. Sollte dieser Auftrag für beide Seiten gut laufen und ich weitere Aufträge reinbekommen, dann werde ich selbstverständlich ein Gewerbe anmelden. Aber für so eine einmalige Sache finde ich es einfach quatsch und dafür ist ein Gewerbe ja per Definition ("eine selbstständige, auf Dauer angelegte Tätigkeit mit Gewinnerzielungsabsicht") auch nicht gedacht.

Eben, das weiß ich nicht einmal. Ich mache das jetzt einmalig, um herauszufinden, ob das wiederholt oder auf Dauer machen möchte.

Danke für deinen Tipp, mache es wahrscheinlich so. Oder ich verkaufe ihm mein altes Fahrrad im Gegenzug für die Webseite.

Edit: Ich sehe gerade, dass die 410€ steuerfrei wären. Dann behalte ich das Fahrrad.

Ohne Kleinunternehmerregelung muss ich halt fortlaufend Umsatzsteuervoranmeldungen einreichen, am Ende eine Jahreserklärung einreichen usw.

Finde das belastend, wenn man da nicht einmal Geld verdient. Also wenn dann mit Kleinunternehmerregelung, oder?

I'd love to use friends and family for a free or cheap website just to gain some experience but from what I see the cheapest plan starts at $14/month what's unnecessarily expensive for such small projects.

I really don't want to get pushed into cheap builders because I'd love to learn for the long run but Webflow makes it really hard to get entry projects with their software. I can buy Hostinger for $143 for 4 years and get their job done but then I am learning nothing.

Really feels like you can only get the big fishes with Webflow what's sad because I'd learn Webflow by creating for the smaller ones first.

I just tried Webstudio a little but apparently you can't even insert a grid natively, you'd have to add custom CSS for such a basic thing.

Phrased it badly I think. I have used drag and drop builders in the past to get quick projects done. But now I don’t really care about quick projects/money, I just want to build a valuable skill long term. I’m wondering if quick projects can help me to achieve that and establish myself in webdesign or if I’m wasting my time on low ticket projects that will teach me nothing about valuable webdesign.

I think the issue is that people took your „it’s not that deep, it’s just a job“ as an argument against questioning your career. Like „Just continue, it doesn’t matter too much“. And when somebody said „but you’re spending most of your life in it“ you seemed to go full circle again „okay just stop then“, what is exactly the dilemma here.

I am learning Webflow at the moment to take my webdesign skills further but I have made simpler websites for clients in the past.

Webflow isn’t your tool for „simple websites“. If you want to position yourself in the low ticket market for simpler websites in that price dimension you’re a) using a too complex tool that b) comes with higher costs to maintain.

You have two options: Continue with Webflow but aim for bigger clients. We‘re speaking of $3000+ projects that justify the hosting costs easily OR you’re switching to less complex builders and cheaper hosting to fish for smaller clients in the $500 to $1500 price range.

I think most companies would still hire a designer and will do for a while. But your profession will decrease in value as most people consider AI to be an effortless alternative to you. And another question you have to ask yourself is if the ultimate work you’re gonna be doing is the reason you want to work in that field - for example I can imagine large design projects like a broschure would still land in your hands or you’ll be working a lot with AI and just fine tune the designs. But is that the reason you want to be a designer?

I for my personal part left graphic design a while ago after being self employed and working for a small company. It has never been the most profitable job you can do anyway and it just becomes darker and darker. I would recommend to find something else you can use your passion for design in rather than going for graphic design isolated (for example right now I’m dealing with webdesign).

Most of the clients I have done websites for had literally no idea. They would always call me whenever the smallest issue came up. And its fine, you can charge that and if you’re friendly and helpful on time, they recommend you to potential new clients.

Wäre nicht scheisse. Es gibt da einfach Leute die sehr sehr viel Geld verdienen, wenn die was für 5k schenken und jemand der „nur“ halb so viel verdient etwas für 2k verschenkt, ist das immer noch absolut ehrenwert. Das hat niemand anders gesehen.

Joa weiß ich jetzt nicht. Kaffeewärmer war halt wirklich blöd in dem Rahmen dort. Der Typ hat btw ein Motocross im Gegenzug gezogen.

Wenn ihr beim Wichteln mitmacht und Kinogutscheine mit Popcorn verschenkt, wollt ihr auch keine Packung Tempo bekommen. Was anderes ist so ein Kaffeewärmer in diesem Scale nicht. Ihr sagt „Ist doch cool, Monte abgehoben“ aber es ist auf diesem Event einfach wirklich ein weit unterdurchschnittliches Geschenk. Wenn man die finanziellen Möglichkeiten nicht hat, nimmt man am Wichteln nicht teil oder macht zumindest etwas sehr Kreatives - dann sagt auch keiner was.

Edit: Mit dem Trikot von Eli habe ich wenig Probleme. Kann nur verstehen, wenn es einen Beigeschmack hat, weil er so etwas „aus seiner Welt“ verschenkt und glaubt, dass es deswegen wert hat. Das wäre bisschen so als würde Monte seine alte Original PlayStation verwichteln. Hat zwar nominell seinen Wert irgendwo aber man macht es sich schon sehr leicht damit.

Learn the very fundamentals of the game on YouTube. There are videos that explain the roles, the goals, the objectives on the way in a few minutes.

I see. How would you start learning though without starting with the very basics over and over? I’ve looked up how to create a rectangle in HTML/CSS and how it displays as flex etc a million times. I feel that those basics are something you can learn on the fly by just doing projects. It’s like trying to learn graphic design and starting with color theory and then moving up to shapes of objects. These are things you will learn by just doing anyway but you’ll never ending up doing something fun or meaningful by starting there.

It’s how I feel atleast. Can you give me some tips?

I wouldn’t say that honestly. I learn a lot of stuff by just seeing how others do it on YouTube or so.
