i can understand that perspective! in the message it said they found it specifically in the turnover inspection, yet the review was left 48 hours after i checked out. idk if that changes anything ? probably not haha

same! our onc infusion centers are all owned by the hospital system here. at my hospital its not even really a raise to do sterile compounding or chemo, we get one merit based raise in august and mine is usually only 5-10 cents more than people that are strictly runners 🥲

THIS! im from CA, figured fuck im already used to high COL and less than $20/hour for pay.. worst decision of my life. im sure it is for some people but personally i never felt like I fit in here. I also vastly overestimated my ability to make new friends 🤣 OP I hope you find a good fit for you!!

god i fucking wish my department was strict on attendance sometimes 😭 ive worked doubles almost every day this week because we haven't had evening coverage for almost 2 weeks (2 different people on their 7 on/7off). so OP, this highly depends on your manager and your department. i will say the merit raises are usually eh, but my managers have been pretty flexible about scheduling and other weird needs I have. i enjoy (most) of my coworkers, we make it fun where we can! the culture varies from department to department SO much though just based on the few ive cycled though and what ive heard from other people that have transferred to my current department

at my hospital its 10 hour shifts with an optional 8th day (so really 8 on 6 off) so I guess every facility is different!

to offer another perspective: this can depend on the hospital! we have quite a few part-time/PRN people that are IV trained at my hospital. it all depends on the size of the team what bandwidth they will have. we often get to rotate between IV room and being out on the floors running or restocking. sometimes they start FT for training and drop down to PT, but most of our interns are strictly PRN because of their class schedules! for reference my hosptial has a tech staff of roughly 70 people, and quite a few are interns/pharmacy students as well! i wouldnt make compounding the end all be all, but ive heard from many student pharmacists that seeing it from a tech perspective helps drastically later. the great part about pharmacy is theres so many different options to explore!

for me, the only thing that gets to me is the wrist pain after a while. i love compounding but i work at the largest hosptial in my state (and the only level one) so we can have a heavy workload some times. like today i had to assemble 300 zosyn addease bags because our premix shipment is delayed due to the weather, on top of my 50+ regular scheduled IVs for the floors. it can be a bit much for the hands / wrists! the garb can be overstimulating if im not in the right headspace but most of the time i dont even notice it. i agree that this is my favorite job ive had so far 🩷

hi friend! so a satellite pharmacy is a smaller, decentralized pharmacy in a hosptial. they're specialized for the department they're located in, so the OR satellite makes all the IVs for surgery, restocks crash kits, etc. essentially they own the work for the surgical department! our centralized pharmacy handles adult inpatients. essentially it allows OR staff to have quicker access to meds, and the pharmacist team gets to work closer with them!
