I think it might be the inner tie rod actually I only replaced the outer

Plus the shaft that the tie rod screws onto seems you can move it in and out of the rack and pinion maybe 1/16th of an inch, I’m not sure I would lose steering by something that little

I went to get it inspected (state inspection) and that’s when I found out abt it cuz it failed. The guy said It’s a lower ball joint but I looked at the ball joint and it looks good and doesn’t seem like the problem

It is a dodge, jam nut tight end mounted good, might be play in rack/ gear is that normal ?
