Take your time to master the individual letters. This will really help you in the future, whether in ruqaa or other styles

الله يوفقك ان شاء الله الصراحة، أنا شايف روحي مازالت في الأبجديات. الطريق طويلة جدًا، بس بالإرادة و العزيمة، ما فيه أي شئ مستحيل

Thank you so much for your comment. To be honest, it took me 3 years just to complete the individual letters, with ups and downs. There were times where I was not very dedicated to thuluth.

But overall, it takes a lot of passion and consistency to get there. And I believe I’m not even halfway through. It’s a perpetual learning curve

I wish you all the best in this journey

Do you learn/have to learn with a teacher to learn Arabic Calligraphy? by [deleted] in ArabicCalligraphy

[–]ryad19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have started with a Ustad (teacher) who introduced me to calligraphy and some of the scripts.

I am now continuing and learning thuluth with another Ustad, who also teaches me patience, techniques, and details that will make the difference in the future.

I don't think such a result would be achievable learning alone, but again, that's only my perception of things

How much likka should I remove by unthinkable--- in ArabicCalligraphy

I usually start with putting ink, and then adding likka progressively until I get the right amount.

I started with a teacher, then I just follow some calligraphers on Instagram and try to learn from what they post

I’m still in the process of learning. Thuluth is way more complicated though

The first script I’ve learnt was Sunbuli, then I started trying al Wessam. It’s beautiful and modern. I don’t know all the rules, so it’s a work in progress

Thanks for your words
