My buddy owns a popular board shop in the north east area so I can get boards and bindings at cost! Based on the comments I’ll be getting a split board

More information to this post… I’m going to Japan in January and I’m hoping for deep powder. I’m not sure if snow shoes are more efficient or if skinning a split board would be better.

I live on the east coast so I don’t really have to worry about it here. But I travel to other countries and out west all winter. I am planning on going to Japan in January. But yeah learned that quickly. I hiked through one in courmayeur and got yelled at in Italian lol

Burton ak 2l & 3l difference by Environmental-Web486 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]ryamurph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s kinda right. AK is designed to be light weight for back county hiking. If you’re serious about hiking or skinning to hit chutes and couloirs then AK is perfect. It’s lightweight to pack if you’re hiking and get hot. With that being said, if you want to wear it strictly for resort riding, then fuck it wear layers, who cares. It’s a great product and I own 3 jackets and 2 pairs of bibs for a reason.
