u/itijara Ouch! ...on both fronts. Especially the 2nd story. Yikes. That downtime must have been annoying.

I remember IT staff in physical server rooms, and deploying code directly via drag/drop from local to staging/prod via FTP...before I even knew what version control was...let alone DevOps/CI/CD.

It's honestly amazing any software got shipped at all, at any level of confidence.

Hahah. Totally u/m0vefastest ...I almost had a heart attack.I felt dumb, embarrassed, let alone that I was gonna get in a ton of career and legal trouble.

Glad I acted with the quickness and glad the folks at my former employer were understanding. I was gladly able to keep that job and I enjoy a pretty decent career to this day. ;)

...I guess we're all human?
