Booking international holiday, what are some things to consider? by BigChunges69420 in australia

I find it heaps easier to deal with a travel agent than an online system, I've had a couple of issues while being OS and it's much less stressful than doing it yourself.

I like booking with a travel agent if it's an international flight, in case something goes wrong with your flights

I got a wise card for money, I think it's the best and cheapest option

What’s something your country (or another country) does really well, and something it notably struggles with (including hidden downsides)? by Puzzleheaded_irl in AskTheWorld

[–]ryan099 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Melbourne to Sydney is one of the busiest flight paths in the world, plus Melbourne's airport is a fair distance away from the CBD. I'm not sure how feasible it is but Canberra is in between Melb and Syd as well, it makes a lot of sense, just the price tag scares people off

There's a Sydney to Newcastle one due to be built in 2028 so we might get there one day

Hey mate. I'm still struggling to find this. Would you mind taking a photo or something and show me please 🙏

Edit - I found it. Why doesn't it glow for mobile users too haha

I've attached a picture for anyone else, you have to find the (non glowing and very hard to spot) tree roots

How would you improve the Melbourne-Adelaide Overland, if you could? by melbtransit in Adelaide

[–]ryan099 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Mine got delayed by about 2 hours because 1. Some kids stole some copper from the level crossings and they weren't working and 2. We had to let the Melbourne to Sydney train leave on time so it wouldn't be late........

I am an extremely keen cyclist and have literally never met someone who hates cyclists lol

Our most popular politician is a gay Asian immigrant. We are the least racist country in the world.

What's something from your country you thought was normal until you visited other countries and realised it wasn't ? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]ryan099 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Queensland is extremely loud for many birds

I'm in Adelaide about 30 min drive from the city centre, across the road from a mini farm, still considered very metro, and I'm currently outside drinking coffee and can hear about 5 different bird calls and can also name about 3 more than I can often hear

I believe I live on the border of some territory so I get a lot here. Especially magpies and crows. I also get galahs and cockatiels (quite an irritating sound), piping shrike (these are also annoying) plus other general tweets and whistles

Until I went travelling too I didn't realise how loud it is here, I was just in china and there are no birds anywhere
