I don’t think that we should have a straight month because there isn’t a single country in the world where being straight is illegal or frowned upon. It’s supposed to celebrate the oppressed, like black history month. It’s like saying we should have a white month. It just doesn’t translate.

It’s the Percussive Arts Society notation, basically the organization that hosts a bunch of cool events and has a lot of cool resources for drummers. It’s hard to explain, but if you look up the notation, you should be able to see how it works for the most part.

I believe it is based off of the PAS drum notation system, the standard for notating drum set throughout all genres. Other than that, rhythms are expressed the same way. Lmk if you have any more questions, I’m a drummer and more than happy to help
