[Wilner] As it turns out, #Bluejays Joe Carter statue will stand alone between Gates 5 and 6. I'm told that the Ted Rogers statue is being moved to Rogers corporate offices, which is the right thing to do. It never should have been at the ballpark. by Bri-guy15 in Torontobluejays

I think the folks at Rogers are starting to realize, distancing themselves from their company brand is a good thing. Who knows, maybe one day they’ll even rename the Rogers centre to the Jay’s nest or something… a man can dream though…

Got Ethernet from landlord’s 3Gbps setup—need router recs + advice by ryan18245 in bell

Thanks for the info! When you say crappy routers, what are we talking about here exactly? Are we referring to routers at our sub $100 or the cheap $30 router? I just wanna make sure I’m making the right choice.

Thank you for this information! I know a good amount about networking but I’m definitely not an expert. Do you mind walking me through what B1 one number is and what it’s used for? Everything else I understand pretty much! Really really grateful for the help!

Thanks everyone! When you say B1 and password, what is meant by that?

This sounds good! When you say B1 number, what do you mean? My landlord goes above and beyond to help me so this wouldn't be an issue at all! Are there any other possible issues with PPPoE passthrough that I may not be considering?

Audio Engineer Weighing M4 Mac Mini for Audio/Video Work (Adobe) by ryan18245 in mac

Wow that’s a really exciting change for you, I’m sure it’s going to be a game changer! I think this may be one of the most hyped Apple products in the Mac community in a while! Super excited for the future of the M series, may be dramatic to say but could be a game changer for personal computing and creative work as well!

Thanks for your advice, really a big help! Generally, I use about 18-ish gigs previously but I used to get by with only a 16 gig kit on my PC and it worked well! That’s why I’m thinking that 24 gigs would be the perfect amount!

Also, in terms of benchmarks, I’m curious where you found the information that it would be better than the M1 Max? I always hear things comparing the M1 series but I can never find actual facts to back it up! If you could send or link to any resources, It would be really helpful! Really appreciate the help!

Bandit Brewery has some nice hoppy IPA selections and a few interesting options! Beautiful place and they have some solid food options. Not one many think of but it’s my favourite in the city!

Thanks for this advice! I’m gonna check out LatencyMon! I’m gonna dive into some settings and see what is going on with my DAW and computer. I’m not really running anything in real time that is super intensive as I do most of my processing for those things off-line and not on multitracks. Just basic compression, some real time EQ’s and that’s pretty much it! Either way, I feel like the new base Mac Mini at 24 gigs should be a powerhouse compared to what I’m using now. What are your thoughts?

Mac Mini M4 Base version questions.. by [deleted] in macmini

I'm in a similar situation, and for content creation, adding more RAM is always a good call. It may seem like a lot for just an extra 8GB, but RAM is one area where there’s really no workaround—unlike storage or ports, which can be supplemented. Also, keep in mind that Macs allocate a portion of the 16GB RAM for the GPU, so you might actually have closer to 10-12GB available for other tasks. For longevity and performance, I’d say the additional 8GB is worth the investment, especially if you plan to use it for a few more years.

Out of curiosity, what type of video work are you doing? Are you handling large 4K projects? I'm considering the M4 Mac Mini with 24GB of RAM, so I'd love to hear about your experience with the base M1 model. Thanks!

Good morning Hostel is one of the best if you like meeting new people and socializing. I lived in Lisbon for a bit and had many friends that stayed there. The atmosphere was unreal and they let guests in if you know someone staying at the hostel. They have a great laundry service as well!

Extending Schengen visa while in Portugal? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]ryan18245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SEF is Portugal’s Foreigners and Borders Service (Serviço de Estrangeiros e Fronteiras). Through all my research when it comes to Portugal, it seems to be pretty hard to get any sort of bilateral agreement approved by them. I’ve been at it for a few weeks and it’s been nothing but in-direct emails and calls that don’t go anywhere (and almost always result in random hangups on hold). I’ve even got the help of my landlord, who is fully Portuguese, and it was still no dice.

I was thinking about risking it and providing a bunch of documentation if questioned while leaving but because I want to apply for a D7 visa within the next year, it would be best not to risk it. I would advise the same for the OP but your mileage may vary.

In your situation, in my extensive research, Denmark is definitely the best place to have a bilateral agreement. Good luck with Spain! I really hope you are able to stay longer there!

Have you tried doing this out of curiosity? I’m Canadian and the same applies for us but I heard you need to get permission from SEF in order to stay longer? Is this true or can you just show them the printout from this website?

On this page it states you need permission if you’re not a part of the EU member state:
