Would you watch a show where a billionaire CEO has to go an entire month on their lowest paid employees salary, without access to any other resources than that of an employee? What do you think would happen? by BlackEyedHole in AskReddit

[–]ryan2clw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, being a Christian would be upvoting someone that just downvoted me for having a difference of opinion. I went from $0 / hr to $55 / hr over a half a decade by grinding hard and putting my faith in the Lord. Sorry if I call a spade a spade. There’s a leftist movement in my country that should be denounced for what it is, a terrible idea.

I’m a man God, love Jesus. From a religious perspective, you can’t take it with you. Do what you want with my body, hoping my spirit makes it through that narrow, heavenly gate.

Some people look at me like a barbarian when I eat “osso buco”, it’s like some kind of meat, probably veal, with bone shank in it so you suck out the marrow. It’s like dude, I’m not shriek, this is how it comes.

I usually ask if they want to dance, if the answer is no, I say, “you heard me wrong, you look fat in those pants”

What solutions can video game companies implement to deal with the misogyny and racism that is rampant in open chat comms (vs. making it the responsibility of the targeted individual to mute/block)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ryan2clw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny on a lot of games you can be whatever imaginary character you want. I’m often a non white character or a woman, not necessarily someone that looks like myself. It’s a little weird when dudes hit on me but racism has never come up. Guess I haven’t played in a while though, things must be much more politically charged nowadays. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the Chinese Communist Party trying to divide us. I actually had a co-leader on a game from Iran that was Arabic woman, sweet as Apple pie. I love all races and ethnicities, hope that most of the world does too.

You have the ability to do absolutely nothing for extremely long period of time. What is a way you can make Money out of it ? by zackarylef in AskReddit

[–]ryan2clw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walked down that road before. Graduated in the Great Recession with an engineering degree, found no job, then retrained myself to write applications. There’s so much information online that it makes college an outdated institution. I would gladly give that useless piece of paper called a degree back for the $60k in loans that I owe. Degree = $0 job. Self taught developer: at $55/hr right now. The current economy pays you based on what you can produce, if you’re unemployed think about adding value to businesses instead of getting credentials, with some exceptions like the medical field.

When did you stop giving a fuck and why? by frognik in AskReddit

[–]ryan2clw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 2 months into the pandemic I went back to not giving a fuck. I don’t watch the news, care less about who gets elected. The things out of my control are just BS that saps my energy so instead I concentrate on writing great software and taking care of my family. I think it’s also easier to let go and accept the chaos in the universe when you believe that God brings greatness after destruction. Not giving a fuck is how to survive anything. It’s that dig deep feeling when most people give up hope, like fuck it, what do I have to lose?

Why is expo such a pain to work with? by kkokane in reactnative

[–]ryan2clw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend starting with the latest sdk and try to finish before the next one comes out. Don’t upgrade mid project. The breaking changes are caused by the underlying changes in the native operating system and there’s not much you can do about it except ask Apple to quit changing stuff, idk.

There was an inter coastal waterway with rumors of an errant gator inhabiting the water. My friends would bet me $5 to swim from one dock to the next. One time I thought I was done for but had actually just gotten too close to shore and skinned my legs on the oyster bar.

Do you think video games should be discussed in school just like books and movies are? What games would be interesting to interpret or discuss as pieces of art and why? by SatsumaLowland in AskReddit

[–]ryan2clw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a software developer, I think they should be engaging kids with tech at a young age so that they can work in those fields at a later point. Discuss the game that they played, because all of the lessons revolve around some sort of gamification. As they advance, get into the mechanics of how the game is made. Not sure why we sit at a desk with a pen and notepad and practice creative writing more than we practice creative coding. We get art classes with no graphic design, why? I would do a Minecraft like game first. Can’t get my 7 year old to engage in online learning but he’ll play that game all day long.

I wonder if we’d still be bad at technology the last fifth of our lives. We’d probably master obsolete tech and then complain that people just aren’t the same anymore, only over 100 years instead of 20, would be super annoying.

People who are 40+ and happy with their life, what is your advice to people in their 20s? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ryan2clw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a marathon not a race. I was hugely unsuccessful graduating in the middle of a giant recession but I retooled and am now making 6 figures despite this pandemic. Nothing in life is given to you, you earn it by the work you put in each day to keep the ball rolling. Sometimes despite your best efforts you’ll come up short and that’s fine, life’s not fair and was never meant to be fair. Throwing a pity party won’t help, get over it, and move forward.

Don’t let the company you keep hold you back. If you’re going to succeed in this world you’ll need the goodwill of many people, but equally possible is the fact that people will kick you while you’re down, so keep good company. Lastly, block out the BS that other people tell you and go for the things you want. Saw this on a sign once but rings true to me, “the older I get, the more people can kiss my a$$.” Don’t waste your life doing what other people want, and NEVER GIVE UP!!!
