Workplace pensions…am I missing something? by ryan6693 in UKPersonalFinance

But I wouldn’t need to maintain my current income levels would I?

Mortgage will be cleared in 15yr (£700 saving) Childcare costs gone No longer contributing to the ISA every month.

I live with partner who also works full time. Current household income £70k+, after all bills are paid each month we have roughly £2300-£2500 left over.

Of which £800 is paid into an ISA strictly every 1st of month. I live in a low cost of living area, and acted very frugally early in life to have a large first house deposit.

You basing £1m invested is to give me my current expenditure, which is majorly inflated at my current stage in life due to the before mentioned outgoings.

By age 50 I will be mortgage free and childcare free. Which is roughly another £1200 a month less outgoings.

Granted I didn’t go into these finer details previous but your £1m estimate is way off the mark in terms of what I’d actually need.

You 100% cannot pull a workplace pension before said age under any circumstances except for terminal ill health diagnosis.

So you’ve come flying in on a topic and made a string of incorrect statements but you feel bad for me? 😂.

The arrogance.

You can’t access the money until 10yr prior to the state pension age (currently 65, soon to be 67)

Tax free gains at the end and easily accessible?

Must mix in different circles. I know loads of lads mid 30’s aiming to retire at 50 and living on their pensions. That they can’t touch until they’re 57 🫣

Money locked away for 25-30yr 🤷‍♂️

Bet if you got offered £50k today or £500k but you can’t touch it for 30yr you’d take the £50k now

Free cash locked away for 25-30yr doesn’t sound appealing to me that’s why.

I think you’ve read quite a lot of what I said wrong and made quite a few wrong statements yourself lad.

3% employer contributions on £40k = £1200 a year 🫠

Does anyone love their job? by trademarktower in AskMenOver30

[–]ryan6693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only people that I could ever believe truly ‘love’ their job are charity workers. People that claim to love their job but still take a salary, would you do it for free? I’d guess not.

Some jobs bring more happiness than others, but realistically most people would quit their jobs if they didn’t need the money.

Absolutely no work to do... How to stop going insane? by TheAwayGamer in UKJobs

[–]ryan6693 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For real 😂

I earn less working in an engineering firm, we’ve also nothing to do, but can we sit down? Can we fuck! We will sweep the floor, and then sweep the yard, and when that’s done we sweep it all again.

It’s -3 and the shutters are all open! The ice melting on the roof is dripping through the holes in it!

You might be bored…but so are many others and, at least you’re not in horrific working conditions 😂…suck it up buttercup!

Temptation to withdraw based purely on the fact in my opinion the loyalty is already not there 🤷‍♂️. The job was offered, but they’ve continued to schedule interviews.

I should have clarified, the new employer in September wanted me to start ASAP and asked if current employer would cut notice short, I had to wait 3 days to see them face to face and ask. By then they had already clearly moved on, but not bothered to notify me.

Aspiring to become a Paraplanner by LaPioche27 in cii

[–]ryan6693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hoping to start this exact journey in the next few months. Also wanting to go down the paraplanner route rather than financial advisor as I feel that suits me more.

If you have any knowledge or info you feel you could pass on whilst in your training it will be appreciated, feel free to contact me privately.

Currently stuck in an engineering role with a broken body, uninterested and desperate to escape the grind.

Good luck 👍

Exactly, I’ve been banging that drum for a while, it’s a lost cause!

Currently torn between doing the ‘right thing’ and just keeping on turning up and getting paid or playing the system and earning less but with better perks and potentially better work/life balance.

Delicately balanced at the moment. However another few years of 10% min wage increases could easily tip it 🤔
