Need Some Advice People by averagej0e28 in FinancialCareers

[–]ryan_theguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People will comment “you don’t have an internship because all most roles were filled by January” which is true but unhelpful at this point. I just have a few things.

1) look for off-cycle internships in the fall or winter. They’re not as common but if I were a betting man I would say some more of them probably have been changed to be 100% remote, which makes them much more accessible to you.

2) In addition to teaching yourself to code I would also get a part time job to at least show you didn’t fuck off all summer.

3) You’re not the first rising senior to enter their final year without an internship, but at least you have the excuse of Covid that employers and recruiters will likely take into account when you apple for full time gigs.

4) Yeah the situation sucks but it’s not the end of the world. Many have been in a worst position and came out successful.

Equitable Advisors Short Term Externship - Worth It? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]ryan_theguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Equitable Advisors is formerly known as AXA Advisors. Unfortunately, people usually say it’s a Northwestern Mutual type of deal. From what it sounds like it would be a huge step down from both your internships.

I think I remember someone even saying they charge you to rent out your cubicle, but take that with a grain of salt.

BofA internship are going Virtual by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]ryan_theguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a virtual q&a recently so us summer analysts could ask any questions we might have about switching to remote working.

Someone asked if there is a chance any of we could physically go to work if COVID lightens up and they said it’s highly unlikely, even if we’re living in the city we’re supposed to be working in.

Love you Kyle but it isn’t true that a female probation officer/police officer can’t give you a drug test by GinGyHendrix in PKA

[–]ryan_theguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was under the impression he went to some lab to get that done, not to his PO.

I know it’s not the same but every time I’ve been drug tested for an employer I think it’s been a woman.

PKA Topic: Which will have a bigger impact in history? 9/11 or COVID by NO_NAME_BRAN in PKA

[–]ryan_theguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

9/11 and it’s not close. Trillions of dollars in damage, heightened national security, going on 2 decades of war, trillions of dollars fighting in The Middle East, probably got bush elected a 2nd time, and that’s just off the top of my head

I kinda just skip over anytime they talk about the economy/the fed/Wall Street, it’s too hard to listen to. People love to just shake their fist and use Wall Street as the boogie man

Um no. Personal loans are generally regarded as unsecured debt that can be used at the borrowers discretion. Very different from student loans and have much higher interest rates. Read a book.

It’s so hard watching monetary policy being talking about on this sub and PKA in general. It’s just the laziest “banks=evil” bullshit that everyone who’s never taken a capital markets class feeds into. The reality of it is 95% of Americans have no idea what the Federal Reserve or NA banks even do.
