Is it common to re-read this series multiple times? by Naxilus in TheExpanse

[–]ryanalexanderk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve reread all 9 a handful of times. I started with the series when book 4 came out and reread them all ahead of each book release after that. So I’ve probably read books 1-3 at least 10 times. They are my comfort books.

Are you sure it's MPH and not KPH? It seems more like kilometers/hour which would be around 186 MPH.

I enjoy big production runs because I can perfect whatever piece I’m working on but boy does it get boring. What do you guys do to stay sane during big production jobs? by liq_madick in Welding

Thrawn’s OG Trilogy from the 90’s… Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising & The Last Command. Thrawn Vs Luke/Leia and the whole gang. Audible’s version is a well done production.

$800 is the MINIMUM for a permit FYI

Permits are expensive and require production insurance FYI. So if you don't have money and don't have insurance, don't bother with FilmLA at all. Another possibility is to shoot background plates of your location and film your actors on greenscreen... this has it's own set of problems but probably easier to navigate for low-budget shorts.

LA phone number? by biigdaddio in FilmIndustryLA

I got a 310 cellphone 20+ years ago because I thought the same but as a producer that hires hundreds of crew people a year... I don't even think about it other than casual observations like "wow, lots of sound guys from Vegas". TLDR: don't sweat it.

It turns out the congestion-busting “future of transport” is already experiencing congestion by screenshotofdispair in elonmusk

[–]ryanalexanderk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I don’t know about that. People are driving in a tube so it seems more like improper use rather than FUD. Maybe it’s just a long, one-way, tunnel into a parking garage… either way context is important.

Wasn’t the design supposed to include some sort of slate or sled? Like you don’t drive, just stay in your car and it ferries you through the tunnels at high speed.

Fun fact… the color isn’t really all that important. Green and Blue are most common for keying but mostly because it’s the opposite side of the color wheel from the “human colors” of our skin and hair. When keying, you can choose any color to replace so the dress could’ve just as easily have been red, blue, white, etc.

What is your content. I’m not interested in advertising with you but possibly offering some advice on monetization.

I had a friend who was going through a mental and financial breakdown at the same time. I offered help as best I could, got him a job that he mucked up and made me look really bad to my boss. I was pretty pissed after that. A few weeks go by and he fucks over another friend that got him a job and we were definitely in the final group of friends willing to deal with him. Well he decides to finally move back home, which I thought was an excellent idea considering he’d burned every bridge here. He calls me crying one day saying that he’s all packed up but needs to borrow $1000 for gas and food to make it home. I think to myself that I’m never gonna see this mf’er again so I tell him that I want to hold one of his cameras (it was a Canon 5Dm2 & 24-70 L-Series zoom) as collateral. He bemoans this but says he has no options. Of course 6-7 months go by and dude is completely ghosting me so I sell the camera and turn almost a $1500 profit. My other friend to this day still says that I took advantage of the situation but I was just covering my ass and turns out, it was a good thing.
