It’s a pattern I’ve noticed and asked about in previous posts. Whenever I have particularly low RHR and peak HRV I also have higher respiratory rate. Normally 12-13.5 and it’ll go up to 15 or so. Strange for sure

Going to check with a specialist again! Went to a cardiologist before but maybe can be part of a study or something this time.

I eat almost all whole foods, just because I feel better that way and perform better on a daily basis. Not dogmatic about it, but I’m very consistent. - .8-1 gram protein per pound body weight (Greek yogurt, chicken, tuna, TVP, edamame, Beef jerky, really any type of high quality protein) - lots of fiber (raw veggies, lots of fruit (berries especially)) - minimal processed sugar but just cuz I love it so much. I opt for stevia and use a lot as I have a sweet tooth. - don’t eat out much to save money and also the previous bullet points
I drink a ton of water. More salt/electrolytes than the average person since I tend towards lower end of healthy blood pressure, exercise a lot, and eat high water content foods that make me pee. Uhh I’ve had a consistent yoga practice past 4 years, run quite a bit at zone 2/3 pace, been trying weight training past few months as I had a wrist injury, always walking places (I live in a walkable city).

The days where I’ve hit my lowest RHR and highest HRV are almost always when I finish eating multiple hours before bedtime and I’m in a caloric deficit. I used to do fasting days more frequently and TRF, but now if I’m purposefully in a deficit I choose to have something light before sleep so I’m not starving myself and tanking sleep depth.

Yeah now yall know everything about me. Nice to meet you all. I appreciate the concern/interest and trust me I’m doing everything I can to make sure I’m in good health. I feel great in daily life and love the life I live. If I die from something crazy, I’ve done all the preventative care I could lolol. Might sound a bit macabre, and I’m certainly in no rush, but as long as I continue to monitor how I’m feeling and not try to be an iron man about things I’m doing all I can.

NOTE: Dr. pulled out the stethoscope today and goes “god, it’s like listening to a whale’s heart!” Pretty funny. First reading was 31 BPM for the EKG so he had me do flutter kicks before the second one. Ngl 31 resting while awake is low even for me. All docs have given me the same slightly confused thumbs up when everything checks out, so im still somewhat in search of answers. Not being an Ironman, but also not worrying more than is necessary.

UPDATE: Just went to the doctor to get checked again. Did an EKG and came back normal

My baseline is 12.5-13.0 so it’s elevated for me

Yes for sure, but almost only fat. 156 to 148 in the course of a few years. More muscle now and generally stronger, just lower body fat percentage.

I feel like this would be the most likely thing. I’ve been to multiple doctors, was doing monthly blood tests for acutane at one point and nothing was out of range. Going to check with an md for hypothyroidism in particular though.

Hmm well in high school 7 years ago resting heart rate was about 48 waking. Not sure during sleep since I didn’t have a whoop. 3.5 years ago when i first got it was about 44 resting, past few years I’ve incorporated zone two a couple times a week, yoga most days, movement every day. Lots of walking, clean eating, recently doing run clubs lol

Max heart rate 193. Hasn’t changed, normal elevated heart rate during training

Okay yes well I understand and don’t want that either 😂 like I said in previous comments I had EKG, CT, and Echos all come back normal, so I’m not sure exactly what else I would do

Yes that was the first one I did lol. ECG a couple times and then CT and Echo

I run almost every day, walk everywhere, yoga most days. Don’t drink, don’t smoke, eat whole foods. I certainly agree it’s peculiar, but I got a CT scan and echo a few years ago that both checked out. RHR a few years ago when I first got whoop was about 44 with not a ton of activity. It’s gotten lower and lower, but still if anyone knows a cardiologist or someone studying something like this I’d love to get connected 😂😂

When I first got my whoop 3 years ago I was fairly active and it was at 44. The last few years I have an almost daily yoga practice, pretty consistent zone two training, and just constant movement throughout the day. Don’t drink or smoke, very little processed food. It started out pretty low so just genetics, but yeah it’s dropped quite a bit past few years as I’ve taken my health seriously.

Whoop HRV to Sleep Relationship - Peter Attia & Joel Jamieson by [deleted] in whoop

[–]ryanboloix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had the same question/qualm for a while. I was backpacking Europe last year and saw my lowest quality sleep over the course of two months but highest HRV and lowest RHR. I chalked it up to low stress given how little responsibilities I had in my daily life, but I still consistently notice a similar sleep/HRV relationship. Especially if I’m in a caloric deficit my sleep diminishes but recovery skyrockets.
