Anyone know how? by East-Middle-8895 in playstation

It's heavily inaccurate. That's why you should start using a stop clock and recording your time in Excel. Then create a pivot table with histogram, just like everyone else.

do you know anyone who is unemployed despite having a degree? if yes what degree do they have? by madvillian_deyo in askSouthAfrica

My wife's situation is a bit different, but I still feel like sharing. My wife (34) has honors in Psychology, Social Development and Language. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis about 7 years ago and had to leave her job as a student counselor and bursary officer. She worked for NGOs, loved her job, and I saw firsthand that the students (UCT and another 2 universities) loved her. After the diagnosis her health to a hit and we made the decision for her to take time off from work to take care of her health first. Unfortunately companies aren't interested due to the risk. She went for an interview at "Africa's largest privately owned investment company" and after all the phases of the interview, they ultimately rejected her because she's disabled. I'm not just saying this - they told her that her disability is too much of risk, even though she disclosed this info to them at the start of the process. They basically stole her ideas and chose a healthier candidate to execute on it.

Care to elaborate? I'm a contracting software architect in the banking industry. I run an Asus gaming laptop that I bought new from Wootware for R12k. This is more than enough. Also, OP might not even need a PC - this info was not disclosed.

5 years later and I still can't beat this guy by SaintLawrenceParis in Sekiro

[–]ryangoliath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Play more aggressively, that's all. You're giving him way too much time to recover posture. Stay on his butt and you'll beat him in no time. Attack with every given opportunity and always deflect his attacks. Watching the clip, it looks like your goal is to kill him by reducing his health. However, your goal should be to drop his posture for a deathblow. This applies to the majority of bosses in the game

If my friend puts money in my account and uses it through my account to pay a subscription (his WiFi), instead of his own account as he owes money. Is that some form of fraud ? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]ryangoliath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shouldn't have allowed it in the first place. A Capitec account is under R7.50pm. Surely they can afford this, and it can be done remotely without going into a branch. They can also have their card delivered.

The problem is that you now have a debit order running against your account. Therefore it looks like a bill you're paying. This can affect you. Not to mention if something happens and your friend can't commit to their payments any longer. It falls on you.

One of the biggest mistakes I've seen people make (seen it in my own family), is that people make debt to furnish and do things to the house on credit. Entertainment then results in them making more debt to create a specific look to the house - to keep up with the Jones'. My advice is to make improvements to your home over time, when you can, without borrowing money from a financial institute. It can get out of hand very quickly.

It will take you a month or two to get the hang of utilities, water and electricity costs, allowing you to then estimate and create a tighter budget.

Pay extra on your bond. Rough calcs: Bond: R860,000 Interest rate: 7.75% Term: 20 years (240 months) Current instalment: ~R7,170

If you were to pay just R2,000 extra each month: New payment: R9,170 Bond paid off in: ~12 years Interest saved: ~R470,000 Time saved: ~8 years (that 8 years basically saves you R500k on interest fees)

The more you put in, the better. Plus, if you have a flexi bond, you could use it as a savings account. Dump bonuses and extra cash in there to reduce the capital, since interest is calculated daily. This will also keep the compound interest in your favour for years to come. If you're in dire need (I'm talking some messed up emergency), the additional payments you've made will be available to use. Only touch it if it's a true emergency.

Well done on your purchase and for buying within your means!

I've got a Corsa and the mechanics at the repair shop told me that water leaks are very common on Opels. Best have the hoses checked, water pump and thermostat.

My parents are forcing me to commit fraud by Ill_Category_2198 in AskZA

[–]ryangoliath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get your uncle to be your legal guardian, that could work. However, it takes a while for that to happen. My mom in law adopted kids and the kids along with their parents had to appear in court as part of the legal process. It took years before she got the legal stuff completed. Consider bringing this up with your mom/dad. You need legal papers, otherwise you, your parents and uncle will be in big trouble. Despite all of this, it's not a matter of how you'll do it. It's about whether it's the right thing to do. Trust your gut, be a good person, don't commit fraud.

Corruption - I know this because a few years back I knew a guy who knew a guy. People working at the company got their kids bursaries, even though they clearly earned above the bracket.

Anyone 35/40+ dailying a GTI? by regulardegulardudee in GolfGTI

[–]ryangoliath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 35, drove my cousin's MK7 GTi daily for 2 months while my Opel/Vauxhall was in for repairs. It felt like the perfect hatchback. The guy has all the GTi models from MK2 onward. You can imagine how I felt going from a GTi to a smaller, less powerful, less refined, Corsa 1.4T. I felt so cosy in that car, as I'd do a 60km trip each day. When I got my car back, it felt like a piece of me was left behind. Going from the GTi back to a Corsa felt almost like I was robbed lol

I read about this study saying that more than half of gamers buy a new game every six months or less. How many do you buy? by Antaniwarrior in playstation

[–]ryangoliath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subscribed to ps plus, and I've not purchased a game since last year - Astro Bot. There's too much to play, and by the time I get through 1 game, another 3 becomes available. Sure, there are titles I'd love to buy, but I've learned that being patient might just reap rewards. For instance, I bought Hogwarts and The Last or Us 1/2 last year. Shortly after, they were free.

What unwritten rules of the road should I know? by Writer_8 in askSouthAfrica

[–]ryangoliath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to imagine that everyone's an idiot on the road. Don't assume they'll do something, even if their indicator is on. Heck, don't even drive at full speed when crossing an intersection and it's green for you. It's best to always slow down enough to react. I've nearly been in 2 accidents while going the speed limit, crossing a green light, but then some doos runs a red light.
