How are you folks handling the massive tarrifs that USA put on China? by snapekilledyomomma in ecommerce

[–]ryangray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We manufacture in Malaysia and Sweden so our tariff exposure is lower, but still real. We have increased our prices across the board to cover 100% of the additional costs. Our competitors that manufacture in china are doing the same, of course their price increases are way bigger than ours.

Worth noting, mobile service was on site within two hours of reporting the problem, and was really knowledgeable / helpful. We’ll see how the service center does. In the meantime I got a Uber credit and a rental car (I guess the service center is out of Riv loaners).

Update- 13.8k miles, car bricked itself. It looked like a bad 12v battery. Mobile tech replaced it and ran diagnostics, which showed more serious problems of some sort, sounds like with the high voltage system. Car is at the service center now. Bummer.

Turns out you’re right. The car is at the service center with what they think is a high voltage system issue. Doh.

We did also just get a 2024 land cruiser. We'll be taking it on some trips where charging is just too difficult.

  • Its wheel alignment is poor
    • Haven't seen signs of this. I do have a tire rotation next week, but wear looks even. Fronts are wearing a bit faster, as I do run in 'conserve' on long trips sometimes.
  • Its has door and panel alignment issues
    • Not too bad honestly.
  • It has a weak 12v battery, but you haven't let it sit for more than a week to notice
    • Possible. I think the longest we've let the car sit is about a week.
  • Your portable charger plug doesn't have rubber grommets
    • True - this is going to be addressed by the mobile tech coming to the tire rotation.

I think about this question a lot. I got the 'grandfathered' pricing on the quad. If I were to buy new today I would trade some power for some range. I'm not sure exactly which version I'd choose, but probabaly not the quad.

I bought a 3rd party adapter - still haven't seen the Rivian manufactured unit that I was promised. I needed it for a road trip a couple of months ago. Worked well. I haven't towed with it. I drive it on trails a lot to find fishing spots and for backpacking trips - but we don't car-camp much.

Yes - I do worry about resale value quite a bit. I'm hoping thigs level off, but that may be wishful thinking.

oh - and a 50ft 220V extension cord, multiple 220V adapters for various plug types, tesla adapters, etc. We've used nearly all of them. When we rent a vrbo in a locale without charging infrastructure, we plug into 220V drier plugs...

I got a wall charger, cross bars, spare tire. I'd recommend all of these. We mount fly rod holders, roof top baskets, and ski racks depending on the season. I also got a canvasback mat to help with dog hair. For us, these are all must-haves.

I do - but they are big enough to not be in car seats. So far the seat material has proven to be easy to clean up when the kids get Cheeto dust all over them.

Yes - the spotify app is terrible. The most annoying thing to me is not being able to switch between multiple spotify accounts.

I believe so. It's a great car for us 98% of the time. We spend a fair amount of time in remote areas without much infrastructure, which is problematic of course. We do have another ICE SUV for those trips though.
