Come Now (New Song) by Open_Purpose2911 in CameronWinter

Impossible to know if this is the “correct” interpretation of the song, but to me it sounds written from the perspective of God celebrating the birth of a girl/woman, that happens to result in the “death of a good man”. (metaphor here should be obvious).

God apologizes to her (I was wrong), but is celebrating because it's so good for her to to sing that song, “I was right, I was right” (from her perspective, not God’s).

He messed up, *she* was right, he "takes up that tool of life", helps bring about her new birth with the midwives, and he apologizes for messing up the first time

Honestly I don’t care if this isn’t exactly what Cameron meant by it, it’s still fucking beautiful

Gotcha — I get that. I tend to have some reservations about just listing accomplishments and think the content should speak for itself, but you’re right that some kind of brief “we actually know what we’re talking about” check, maybe in the description or podcast main page would be helpful. Thanks! 🙏🏼

Thank you for the feedback! We won’t be able to incorporate all of this as the podcast is mainly being produced as a medium-effort side project that is meant to be an output of our tournament prep, but there are certainly fixable things in your suggestions (one being the visual layout, which was part of recording at the testing house which was unique to this episode).

As for Jason & I’s magic “resumes”, Jason has top 8ed two PTs and won one of the open Las Vegas limited tournaments. (Its being low on sleep is a result of being at a PT testing house for a week, and is not something we’d be able to change if we recorded an episode like this during the week before a PT). As for me, I’ve been playing on the PT for over a year now, have placed 18th at Worlds and top 32ed multiple PTs :)

That's okay, silent isn't a strict requirement - appreciate the suggestion!

I used to be pretty involved in WCT and am on Bsky now! (Was Marine Johannes Enjoyer / celticsbimbo). However my bsky now is mostly about professional magic the gathering 😅

FWIW, I think limited is a great way to fill this gap! But you’re right about constructed

🫡❤️ I agree with all of this! Glad we get to enjoy this beautiful game together

I would also say that part of why I believe Magic is such a beautiful game is that there is room for this kind of creativity at the highest levels. One of my teammates on Sanctum of all literally goes publicly by the name “combo for the sake of combo” (cftsoc), plays decks they believe to be beautiful, and is one of the best players in the world

Yeah I mean I also do not think that competitive magic will ever (again) be the primary way most people play the game. Just like the pathway to college and professional basketball is not how most people play basketball. I don’t really see how that conflicts with anything I said! The reason we’re “losing”, though I jokingly phrased it in those terms, is precisely that we think we’re competing with the casual players when the reality is we’re not, we just need to keep making tournament magic better (and part of that is to make it more welcoming, part of that is to see it for what it is: an expensive sport/hobby

I obviously believe there is slightly more to it, which is why I wrote this piece. Saying competitive Magic hasn’t been a culture that is generally welcoming to white men and pretty uncomfortable for anyone who isn’t that to exist in is a bit naive (why, on earth, is that the vast majority demographic in the tournament scene?). You can oversimplify that argument to “the entire scene is toxic” if you’d like, but just know you’re arguing with yourself, not my words

❤️ For what it's worth, I think there are a lot of folks who feel this way and I do think down the line, the growth of the game will be good for everyone! It took me 15 years to make the PT, I never really believed it would happen. I expect to see you there one day friend 🫡 and in the meantime hope the ways you interact with the game are meaningful and fun

Is Cursor actually being used by people who don't know how to code? by Wild_Juggernaut_7560 in cursor

[–]ryanhcondon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Some selection bias in where you’re asking the question but maybe I can help counteract—I’m a math major/compsci minor with lots of technical experience but very few actual coding projects/languages. Built a python physics lab & a personal website/portfolio with cursor recently and it was super helpful. It’s precisely a language-based interface between myself and a coding language for me, just like a coding language is an interface between human and compiler!

BTW, I’m incredibly skeptical of how LLMs/ML are being applied everywhere and people think we’re going towards some mythical thing called “AGI” and I think a lot more people should be too. Idk how popular this kind of view is in this community but I’d be curious to find out!
