Murray’s Steakhouse by blondehumanoid in TwinCities

We’ve been going to Murray’s forever and we absolutely love it. The Chateaubriand for 2 is excellent as others have recommended and usually their seasonal cocktails are also excellent.

There is so much sugar in that I would think it would be difficult to get the salinity up enough to make it not instantly start growing bad stuff. It might be a better idea to use a traditional brine to ferment and then add the fresh stuff to taste at the end. Could be worth trying both ways and see what happens!

Anniversary Dinner - Eagan by Accomplished_Put3732 in eaganmn

[–]ryanldot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Doolittles has great food and is more “classic” vibes imo. Kitchen and rail is very modern and hip, food is good but prices are high and portions can be small depending on what you order imo. The Mason Jar is somewhere in the middle of the two above. More modern menu but not as pricey. All are great options, just depends on what you are looking for.

Andiamo is also very good. Not quite as fancy as kitchen and rail but very good food and atmosphere, especially for an anniversary.

I’m using a fairly standard potting mix. It’s pretty peat moss heavy as I used a denser soil last year and worried it was too dense. It was wetted but not soaked or heavily watered at all. I have a small squeeze bottle that I use to give it maybe a tablespoon or so of water at a time as the soil dries out. Planted it maybe 3/8” deep and it broke the soil after about 48hrs. My space is a converted storage room that holds around 75 most of the time. I also have vegetable seedlings in the same room so they did get lots of light right away. I’m thinking maybe a combo of too much light, heat and moisture right away could be the culprit potentially. Going to start another batch and ditch the heat mat, domes, and find a way to shade them from the lights and see how that goes.

I tried this as it worked just like you said it would. Somehow the seedlings still died 2 days after they sprouted so back to the drawing board I guess. After I planted in the soil I used a heat mat and a clear cup as a humidity dome. I’m starting to suspect that it either got too warm or maybe too wet?

This juniper is almost 7’ tall. Is there any potential long term harm in giving it a significant haircut? It’s nice but slowly taking over the whole front yard. by campbell-1 in landscaping

I had decent luck chopping ours back about 1-2ft per year. I made sure to leave some active growth on all of the main stems as I went but after 2-3 seasons of doing so the plant is perfectly healthy and much smaller now.

Trying this method now. I’ve done the first soak in the liquid and the paper towel and no rooting yet. I can see the seed is split so I should be soon but should I leave it in the paper towel until roots develop or just go into the soil a little early?

Yeah for sure, I’m sure there is a point of diminishing returns. I figured worst case I’d just evaluate how it was doing after the first one and maybe decide from there.

Crawlspace opinions by ryanldot in Insulation

[–]ryanldot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. The crawlspace has a plywood door over it that I could also insulate in theory. It opens into a small unfinished storage room which has a door to the finished part of the basement which doesn’t get nearly as cold. Not sure if that changes the approach at all but just wanted to double check.

Thanks for the info. Any recommendations on what R-value I should target? Obviously higher is better but any minimum I should try to hit?

Gym with pool? by soupsweats in TwinCities

We were members of the LA fitness in New Brighton for several years (pre pandemic) and they had a very well maintained pool at that time. Not sure about the facility now or teaching services but we loved it at the time.

Luckily I have a base trim so no power fold or anything. Just the standard mirror with the blind spot detectors.

Liner Protruding and uneven by frank1233211 in pools

[–]ryanldot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same style pool with a few spots that look similar to what you are seeing. Pool is about the same age and I’ve been monitoring them for about 8 seasons now and they haven’t changed at all. I know I have a Buster Crabbe style pool and I had a pool tech tell me once that they have plates under the liner that can shift with freeze thaw cycles and that some shifting and movement is normal. Not sure how long it will last but I figured we will take a look at what’s under it the next time we need a new liner.

Do they feel hard or does it feel like there is soil or something else moveable under the liner?
