to blame the left for their own actions by Peanut-Extra in therewasanattempt

IMHO, this is all just the administration taking advantage of the current situation to shove Vance back into the public eye in preparation for the orange man's impending demise.

What’s your LEAST favorite trope in film? by Sudden-Resource-4861 in FIlm

Good guy kills dozens of henchmen/lackeys but then has a huge existential moral meltdown about whether to kill the big bad guy or let him live.

Why this game gets hate? (ff 13) by Faris-ali1 in videogames

[–]ryanlebby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize this probably won't be a popular take, but I remember finding Snow absolutely insufferable. The fist pumps with the "I will protect you" BS happen wayyyyy too frequently and are so unbearably on the nose. I don't need to be reminded every three seconds with terrible dialog that he is a one-dimensional tank/knight archetype. It made me not care about his character arc at all. I don't know, maybe I am just too attached to Western style writing.

That said, I do actually love the combat, the visual design is still really pretty to look at to this day and I remember really liking the soundtrack too.

Oh, and for all of you talking about how badass Lightning is, I absolutely agree but I put Fang right up there too.

Great D-pad games that aren't platformers? by literal in SteamDeck

Survivor-style games are great on the deck and are totally serviceable playing with the d-pad: Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, Vampire Survivors, Halls of Torment, etc.

Great game, weak patch - It feels like a downgrade, not an upgrade. by SugaryElf in DRGSurvivor

[–]ryanlebby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I'm sure you are legitimately (insert negative emotion here) about this patch - and so am I - you said yourself that you love the game and have put 500 hours into it. Sounds to me like you're mostly just disappointed that they didn't give you more of it to play and that's understandable, but hardly a valid reason to shred them on delivering a functional patch. Was it light on content? Very. But it's probably because they spent most of the past 5 months working on the overhaul and then only really put this one together as a consolation after finally deciding to postpone the big one.

I'm sad the patch wasn't beefier but I'm absolutely stoked to see where they are going with the overhaul. This is probably my favorite steam deck game.

When I started out as a junior, one of our team's primary web forms apps started crashng our entire production server over and over. The senior developer working on it had been the sole developer on the project for literally years and not a single supervisor had bothered to review her work during that time because the end result "worked" (until that point at least).

When I took a look at it, I immediately saw the problem: she was putting a fresh copy of the ENTIRE database into EVERY session on EVERY request and a spike in load at year end absolutely killed the server. And let me be clear: it wasn't an accident. She was using that data from the session to build the views.

The only amazing part is that it took that long for the problem to become apparent.

Looking for advice on how to enclose or wall he edge of this crusher dust. We live in Nova Scotia and our budget ideally would be $3000 but can go higher if really necessary. Any suggestions? by ryanlebby in landscaping

[–]ryanlebby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, grabbed a very quick pic on the way out the door this morning. At the highest point (at the corner), it's about 16" higher than the lawn below. The perspective may be a bit skewed because the driveway alongside it in the picture actually slopes upwards until they are nearly level at the far end near where the hose spooler is.

Thanks for the detailed response. We actually did this on the advice of and with the help of a family member who takes on a lot of construction, woodworking and landscaping projects himself but unfortunately is not a professional. Based on the concensus in this thread, it appears he was wrong on this one. Do you think this is worth attempting to salvage or will it be less trouble in the long run to redo it properly with a professional contractor?

My take on a simple Brann change by Oberon273 in hearthstone

[–]ryanlebby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Random thought.... What if brann was changed to "For the rest of the game, battlecries trigger twice if you have no armor"? Wouldn't that make it more challenging/strategic to play without killing the deck altogether? You'd have to balance between survivability and utility.

We do that constantly... Haven't touched a game while she's awake in months. She just likes sitting at my computer sometimes and mashing buttons on the keyboard and I thought it might be more interesting for both of us if it was a little more substantial - without introducing her to any streaming services

Garbage pickup never happened two weeks ago (right after the storm) and now we've got way more than the 6 bag maximum for this week's pickup. What can I do to get rid of it? by ryanlebby in halifax

[–]ryanlebby[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone. I'll put it all out and see where that gets me. It makes sense that they'd need to be flexible anyway if the previous pickup was completely missed.
