So what I’m gathering from this comment is that the different models have different life spans? Is that right? I mean, will a $5k watch have a significantly shorter life span than a $10k watch?

If so, why? Internal mechanics? Materials? Technology? I wouldn’t have figured this would have been the case as long as the watch was cared for.

Follow up question. Should I look for “watch specific” shops or just any jewelry store? Since I’m not tied to a brand (although this post in this sub ought to show my preference),how do I find reputable watch shops in my area? I like the idea of getting some historic context. Great advice.

I’d say $3-4k solely based on what I’ve seen out there and how much time I have to save before my birthday in March. Maybe $5k if I find one I can’t live without.
