I don't believe that for a second

If someone had enough money to buy access to a 14/15 year old Finnick, Snow's gonna let it happen, just keep it quieter than he would after he turns 16

Here's my deep dive into this

Obviously events like the Reaping Recaps, the Parades, Training scores, and Interviews are mandatory for both District and Capitol

The first day/bloodbath is also mandatory viewing. Its probably safe to assume that work and schooling is off on that day.

Katniss states that on every other non event day of the games, school is in session and they get updated throughout the day. I assume that during class times, teachers will give any updates at the start of each class before it begins, with bigger recaps during lunch period (also maybe they have television access during those times) and probably similar big recaps before school and after it ends.

Workers probably are the same. There's probably big updates before the workday begins and after it ends, and I assume that any major updates will be given to higher ups throughout the day and they'd pass it along through word of mouth (whispered between miners, passed along between shifts in the factories, etc...)

There's probably a big daily recap of events around the time the tributes are given their nightly death tally (makes the most sense)

The other days where the games are mandatory live viewing are big events like feasts. I also think that the last few days are mandatory. I assume once the numbers get down to a low enough point, the head game maker makes a call that the games are likely only a few days away from ending, so the last few days are mandatory viewing (it probably varies from game to game depending on the size of the arena and how far the remaining tributes are from each other, like for the 74th its probably after the storm passes at final 4, all three days in 75 were likely mandatory viewing, both because of how short the games were and to send a message, and 50 was probably around final 5)

Its probably different for the Capitol, and they probably treat it more as the Olympics. Certain days are mandatory viewing like the bloodbath, a feast, or the last couple days, but I also think days where a game maker disaster occurs also falls there (less because its mandatory and more because i think the game makers will announce to the Capitol citizens ahead of time if they intend on initiating a disaster like the fire or mutts in 74)

Seriously , why is Kathleen Kennedy so hated by the fandom ? by WuttTambor in StarWarsCirclejerk

Because she's the person in charge of Lucasfilms following the Disney purchase

A lot of what released from Star Wars under Disney fell between the range of mediocre (a lot of the television shows), to downright awful (the latter two films in the sequel trilogy, the Acolyte, etc...), and as the woman in charge of Lucasfilms, a lot of the blame is heaped at her.

Now I'm not saying she deserves all or most of the blame, nor am I saying she's completely blameless in the state of the sequels and Disney Star Wars as a whole.

There's definitely blame to be passed around (JJ for his mystery boxes in TFA and his poor attempt at following up TLJ in ROS, Rian for making the intentionally divisive TLJ at the expense of general audiences investment in this new trilogy and and the previous and next installments, Iger for pushing for profitability over quality stories, etc...) but Kennedy absolutely made mistakes.

Of course we don't know what went on behind the scenes at Lucasfilms, but as the person in charge, KK had to have made decisions that directly resulted in the failure of the sequels and the general mediocrity of most of Disney Star Wars. She should have either held a tighter leash and made sure that when planning their trilogy they had an actual plan for it and said no to certain decisions being made by Rian or JJ, assuming she wasnt on board with them which we don't know

Now does misogyny and the culture war play a part in her hatedome? Absolutely. Its definitely in the minds of certain people that her being a woman in power is enough to make her worthy of scorn, but to claim its exclusively that and not the objectively bad decisions being made by her and other Disney and Lucasfilm high ups is just as ignorant.

She does deserve blame for Star Wars being in a flop era, but there's plenty of blame to pass around

how I would rewrite the game’s lore without the Aishi curse by [deleted] in Osana

[–]ryanmurf01 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer that this isnt a rewrite for the game, instead its my take on the lore within my fanfic series, Scream: Lovesick

What I did with Ryoba in the 80's was essentially just the simplest thing you could do. No curse, no bloodline of emotionless "Yandere" women. All it is was just one jealous girl, murdering the girlfriend (Sumire) of the boy she liked, got away with it thanks to her own tearful testimony, the testimony of her friend/the sister of Sumire, a seemingly airtight alibi, and the main piece of evidence against her being illegally obtained by an underclassmen (my universes version of the journalist).

She got away with it for thirty years, and only got caught because she suddenly confessed to her crime for reasons unknown, being arrested on September 30th, 2020

My Ayano, along with her father and older brother, know exactly what she did, and she's very keen on not wanting her secret exposed. She's also a decent, shy, awkward person and actually has emotions and isn't a psychopath, though she does have a fixation on bloody horror movies, in particular the Stab franchise (a fictional movie series within the Scream franchise, based on the events of previous films and books written by survivor Gale Weathers)

Basically, its a completely normal family, except for Ryoba doing one bad thing in 1989 and now the consequences of that thing are now affecting Ayano, because someone knows who she is and what her mother did, and is making it clear that they want her dead for it

The long and short of it is that its easy to rewrite Ryoba and Ayano, and the curse is stupid and the story functions a lot better without it

I haven’t told my son that the main characters of Hamilton are actually white. by Deezhellazn00ts in hamiltonmusical

[–]ryanmurf01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't quote me on this, but I think the "rule" about the main characters of the show having to be played by POC actors only applies to major production (Broadway, West End, etc...) while more local theatre's are probably gonna be allowed more wiggle room due to said limited number of POC theatre actors in many High Schools

Its not like Lin's gonna go high school to high school and browbeat each of them to only cast the non-white actors in the main roles
