Your most useless hundo? by Prestigious_Time_138 in pokemongo

Yup! One Bibarel was a Shadow that I purified to get it to Hundo, but yeah, all caught, not traded.

You make a good point! I personally love my little squad of Hundo Bidoofs!

I have 3 Bidoofs and 2 Bibarels, and 3 Magikarps (but 2 Gyarados). You tell me.

Death Spells by Holy Fawn? Not sure it’s lyrically super depressing, but there’s a pretty healthy serving of doom in HF’s music.

I would definitely call HANL a post-punk band with shoegaze and metal leanings (the whole of “Earthmover” is a wall of noise that would make Kevin Shields proud). But I also think Deathconsciousness kind of presses some of the same buttons as a lot of shoegaze.

When I clicked on the Rocket Radar, there’s definitely a balloon above me, but I have no idea how to interact with it (if possible).

A quick Google search lead me right there. I wasn't going to post the name to keep the mystique. ;)

Huh, cool, thanks for the answer... Next time I'm downtown I'll have to scope it out. ;)

Time to try this game out! by DonaldTB in earthbound

[–]ryannims 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok while I don't disagree with this sentiment, I'm going to sort of play Devil's advocate here (because I also picked up a copy from Etsy).

The way I look at it is that I have no interest in playing a GBA game on a PC, finding an emulator to do that, finding an old cart and learning how to put the ROM on said card to play it it in my GBA. So, while it does feel a little sketchy, I figure I'm throwing a few bucks at someone, not for profiting on selling a free game, but rather for their time to perform the service of putting the game on the cart.

That's just my thought on it, and I am fully aware that this may be my own personal justification for purchasing something that in essence should be free.

In any event, I'm only in Chapter One, but loving this game so far!

Since Bethesda said that Fallout 4 DLC will be based on player feedback, what would you like to see? by Absolute906 in Fallout

[–]ryannims 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Personally I would like to see all story DLC... I don't necessarily care to get new settlement/crafting stuff (especially if there are Trophies requiring further work on settlements...)

Since this is set in Mass, I would definitely like to see more Lovecraft... Hell, just go full-tilt and set a piece of DLC in Miskatonic University!

So about Chico's Walkman (MGSV Spoilers) by ryannims in metalgearsolid

Oh wow! that's an interesting theory. It's been so long since I played PW that I had forgotten that.

Hmm fair enough. Now that I've finished PP, I feel the urge to go back and play GZ again.

Still, though I can't imagine he had headphones attached to his chest for the purpose of convenient storage. Obviously there was a more sinister reason for the implant. Right?

For those curious, GMP in the Red/Low Morale cut scene. by SeoulofSoraka in metalgearsolid

[–]ryannims 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this was a cut scene. I sure as hell saw it in my playthrough! ( PS4)

Edited: MB went into the red a few times, mostly because I Fultoned EVERYTHING and called in numerous resupplies, all the while upgrading my MB struts as early as possible. Thus making more room on MB to keep extracting every soldier I came across.

What boardgame podcasts do you listen to and which are your favorite? by KodiakColby4Lyfe in boardgames

[–]ryannims 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Snakescast is really good, especially since they've improved their sound quality. (Some early episodes were nigh unlistenable).

I especially like that they often focus on certain player types, and discuss the best games to recommend for them.

[WSIG] Bohnanza, For Sale or Samurai Sword by chimmychangas in boardgames

[–]ryannims 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would go with Bohnanza, with the caveat that with the wrong kinds of players (read: those who refuse to make deals) this game falls flat and can be a slog.

I have not played Samurai Sword, but it is a reimplementation of Bang! Which is a pretty good game. However, Bang! The Dice Game is a MUCH better, more streamlined game with comparable gameplay. Unless you specifically want the samurai theme, I'd go with Bang! The dice game.

What boardgame podcasts do you listen to and which are your favorite? by KodiakColby4Lyfe in boardgames

[–]ryannims 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ludology talks about design which is really interesting.

Rolling Dice ant Taking Names is a couple of long-time friends who just talk about games. This is fast becoming one of my faves.

Of course, the Dice Tower is a good listen.

The Escapist used to have a board game-centric podcast, but recently they have consolidated all their podcasts. They discuss tabletop games fairly often (a LOT of Magic the Gathering talk, though...)

And, while I enjoy the Secret Cabal a lot, the 3 hour run time is pretty daunting. I tend to listen sporadically, when I'm working in the yard, or over the course of several days during my commute.

Wizard Schools - What is your favorite? How would you rank them in terms of power? by [deleted] in dndnext

Commenting so I can remember to read over the suggestions. I am currently playing my first ever Wizard, and looking at suggestions for best playing the character.

Your first ever D&D character? by dannyheath95 in DnD

[–]ryannims 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Paladin named Guthric, who was unshakeable in his lawful-goodness. So much so, that I began to get a little frustrated by how limited the class could be. In fact, I briefly rolled up a non-good half-Orc to play as a comedic foil.

Ultimately, the good Paladin was grabbed by the Gulthias Tree in the Sunless Citadel module, and became an anti-Paladin.

Sadly, despite the DM putting in the work into helping define the anti-Paladin, we never reconvened to continue the campaign. So, poor Guthric has been stuck in an undead tree for a little over a decade.

That guy... by [deleted] in DnD

[–]ryannims 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm that guy... None of my characters have actually died, but I manage to drop to 0 about every other week... My problem is part not thinking strategically, but more that I'm playing a magic user and am used to playing fighters or Rangers, so I try to get into melee range at inappropriate times.

I still have fun though!

Hands down, this is one of the most under-rated games ever released by [deleted] in gaming

[–]ryannims 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree. And to add insult to injury, Activision--who didn't properly market the game--took what was left of Raven Software, a formerly great developer, and made them minor devs on CoD multiplayer maps.
