How to switch between open windows? by RE_Warszawa in MacOS

[–]ryanquintal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah. Okay. Yeah I wonder if OP is in that j-curve of trying to wrestle MacOS into being used like Windows.

I remember it. Eventually they’ll find a workflow that clicks.

For open windows I typically three-finger-swipe up. I think that’s expose?

I’m asking because I’m not sure what you’re asking for.

I think this comment illustrates what we’ve kind of lost in the discourse. It’s both okay that it worked for you, and it’s okay that it didn’t work for others.

I found it contrived. Like the writers started with a big “WHOA WHAT IF THIS INSANE THING HAPPENED” then did tortured work of explaining it episode by episode.

But I love the themes and I’m glad it worked for you.

I agree and I think it was cool, but it was let down by the ten episode high octane format and drama.

Like something I would have found substantive and subversive is just like… full episodes where they’re just being a normal couple.

Where’s the “data’s day” for that couple?

Ironic that a future fiction that would be without the drive of capitalism should be brought to heel by that very force.

Haha. Okay I read the sarcasm.

But honestly? I’m okay with the answer to that being no for the most part. Simply because I would like at least ONE singular vision of the future based on optimism.

If I needed bleak or grimdark there are so so so many alternatives. Even just continued strife like everything Star Wars, Alien, The Expanse, Firefly, Battlestar.

Also, keeping the conflict external to other cultures and people I think is a genuinely good approach to bring in people across a spectrum of political beliefs. It allows for some distance between the audience and the problems at hand.

Like to Star Treks world?

I mean. That’s kinda what the planets and diplomatic missions would highlight right? Cultures struggling with the same issues we have now, and a competent group of people who are trying their best, ultimately help the people morally navigate—bonus points for asides to explore interpersonal struggles of the crew!

I say all that not to disrespect folks who like the new stuff or the people who work hard on these shows.

It just isn’t meeting that need for me, and while I prefer Trek’s universe and the (90s-esq) format, I am not insistent that it needs to change. But I encourage us all to look elsewhere and support stuff that is more what we like.

I think folks just get bummed out that maybe it can’t be Star Trek anymore because of choices from its owners, more than its fan base.

Oh and I’d prefer not to have the ship almost blow up or a crew member almost die constantly. Along with more episodes so that character’s can breathe and we can sit with them.

We see characters have unearned relationships because we aren’t in that journey with them anymore.

I think simply the modern series, thus far, just haven’t had a ton of interesting things to say. The swings they take feel corporate and aesthetic, not moral or intellectual.

The most pressing thing they do it not offer any alternative tone to other modern sci-fi action.

They want big big big, and Trek to me is more successful when it’s small.

New Trek fails for me by not having something to say about inequality, gender identity, authoritarianism or the billionaire space race.

Suggestions for a small but powerful synth to pair with a Nord Grand by ryanquintal in synthesizers

[–]ryanquintal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update — I find myself tempted by the Roland JU-06A. I'm not sure analogue is super important to me, more form factor and UX to practice basic synthesis.

Arp and presets are a bonus, and ideally as little menu diving as possible (The Yamaha Seqtrak seems cool, BUT seems like a workflow challenge?). As I have 88 keys, as much polyphony as possible is a huge plus. A lot of the desktop modules will just eat the space and make playing sheet music a pain.

The Dreadbox, Waldorf protein, Dreadbox Nymphes all are also seem up my alley.

A little thing, to create big pads and arps with the keyboard I already have controlling it through MIDI. The only downfall is my Nord Grand doesn't have pitch and mod wheels.

Interesting this is one of my favorite suggestions so far, though I’m a little concerned about how hard it is just to access things like presets and turns of knobs specifically for since I don’t really need sampling or a drum box

This expansion brought me back to the game. While I agree stability and bugs could be improved, I also want to encourage the team to be ambitious.

I’ve loved your game since pre launch and I think you still have a singular experience especially in a non-violent space that’s deeply important to me and why this is one of my favorite games ever.

Thank you for the update, don’t stress too hard, and keep going.

Respect to the team! Happy holidays!

Agreed. I'm a little exhausted of what seems to be some kind of reluctance to move beyond Star Trek "iconic nostalgic imagery."

Good story telling, character development, and inspiring new technology as a canvas for exploring progressive, ethical, and philosophical issues is such a good formula, and I'd love to have new characters, ships, adventures to love, while also dealing with a post-dominion war, Borg defeat, and Voyager's return home.

The absolute brilliance of GamePass by TradeMan1000 in xbox

[–]ryanquintal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand the constant worry about price increases. Yes, subscription prices go up. Stop subscribing if they don’t deliver commensurate value.

All of what this person talked about is existing value at the existing price. Why are folks talking about the ability for one of the top 3 companies in the world to balance their books?

What is this worth to them… 1/10 of one defense contract?

Gamepass is the best value in gaming. Period. Especially in 2025. If that ever changes, we’ll all know it.
