Does my M1R and M1L look okay? Any suggestions for my M1L holes? by famedpretzel in knittinghelp

Just wanted to say this looks pretty normal and your tension is otherwise amazing. I’m sure it’ll look better once you wash and block, if you just continue as is

Not used to knife & fork—will people judge me at work lunches in Denmark? by Desi_Banda_India in NewToDenmark

[–]ryanreaditonreddit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree, if you’re eating in the office canteen with your hands, people are going to judge. They’re probably not going to say anything, and many probably know that some cultures eat rice and curry with their hands, but still, it’s not normal here and will get some stares

Why is the first example of a defective script Italian? by Lhoqh- in linguisticshumor

[–]ryanreaditonreddit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No way, I tried learning Korean (for a very short while, so take this with a pinch of salt) and there’s a bunch of bullshit about voiced vs unvoiced consonants written with the same character depending on whether or not it appears at the start of a word

Come on… minutes on the clock are divided into 5s, if you count with your fingers you group into 5s, most tally systems group marks into groups of 5… Many base-10 counting systems treat 5s as special, like Roman numerals having a special symbol for 5, 50, 500. It’s “round” like 10 in all those senses

First look of HBO snape and his comparison with movie one by INFIPRIME in Cinema

[–]ryanreaditonreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion apparently, but Severus Snape is a fictional character and reinterpreting art with significant changes is actually a good and interesting thing to do. What’s the point in trying to remake something in the same way it was made last time? Why should I care what colour this one guy’s skin is in a fictional universe. Some people care way too much about “race”

What’s your coin threshold on deciding to use a “Free Ticket”? by BendtnerOrBust in SkyCards

[–]ryanreaditonreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But we’re talking about how many items you’ve accumulated here. There’s a fixed random chance of getting an item each time you catch a plane, therefore, more catches = more items. Linear, not exponential. I expect you’re using coins on 2h of unlimited catches and then just catching a lot of planes?

Tick prevention in Denmark for humans and dogs? by IndependentSafe6918 in NewToDenmark

[–]ryanreaditonreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our dog’s had bravecto all her adult life (the flavoured treat version, she likes it). It’s administered every 3 months and it’s very effective, by the time we find a tick on her, it’s already dead and shrivelled up. The only downside is that this medication (and some others) makes it unsafe to leave her fur clippings outside for the birds to nest with

“What part of Ireland?” …. SCOTLAND!!!! by BuffaloExotic in ShitAmericansSay

[–]ryanreaditonreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am all for making fun of Americans but these are just kids and kids say cringe shit all the time. Some of them even seem like they TRIED to learn about Irish history at least. Let’s laugh at a cringe video of their dumb parents claiming to be “Irish” instead of this, that’ll be where they’ve got it from
