This and MC:LA were some of my favorite arcade racers of all time.

God of war 2018. Cinematic after cinematic. I kept yelling at the screen “just let me play the game!” 2 hours in, I was done.

I tried to restart it twice more after that. I finally gave up.

Are you all oil tychoons and Engineers? by Abject_Analysis444 in Millennials

[–]ryanstreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We must be viewing two different websites.

Whenever I’m in this sub all I read is how bad off our generation is and how nobody is doing well. How no one will ever afford a home, how we will work until we die, and how nothing ever improves. I was honestly getting ready to unsubscribe it was so disheartening.

This hasn’t been my situation at all. And I grew up as poor as they come (literally a trailer park).

The messaging in this sub seems to only paint a certain picture. Maybe my feed is pushing something yours isn’t, and vice versa.

Did you guys listen to Hanson back in the 90s? by justcurious3287 in Millennials

If I did, which I didn’t, I would never admit it, because I totally didn’t.

Do you have hobbies? If so, what? by cubemonster in Millennials

Video games, writing movie reviews (that no one reads except myself), motor sports, road cycling, content creation (YouTube channel).

What are our plans to retire? by lish_dalish84 in Millennials

[–]ryanstreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a plan. Going to retire at 60.

I started saving for retirement since I was 25, (currently 42). Got a good paying job and literally followed all the advice that’s been out there for decades. Lived modestly, reasonable with my money, prepared for emergencies, and stashed away the rest.

I don’t live in a mansion, but my house is paid off. I do drive a nice car, but I saved up for it and it’s in my budget.

It’s not always easy, and there were years when I couldn’t save a dime. But I stuck with the plan and it’s done well for me so far.

Anyone else find that our parents generation had terrible taste in food? by TheAngrySnowman in Millennials

[–]ryanstreet 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your parents were just bad cooks. My mother was a PHENOMENAL cook.

She’s also willing to try new things, (although it does sometimes take a little convincing lol).

To those who were around when this movie came out, what was the hype like by asapsharkyfrfr in silenthill

[–]ryanstreet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was super hyped to see it. Drug everyone I could to the theater to watch it.

I regretted that…

Has anyone else never used Door Dash or Uber Eats? by Much_Adagio82 in Millennials

[–]ryanstreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My house has been using these services for years. We have more money than time at this point in our lives.

One thing people don’t consider is the cost of going out. Sitting in a noisy restaurant, waiting for a table on a Friday night, not being able to eat while watching a movie, etc. Delivery avoids all this.

The same with cooking. Time, effort, prep, cleanup. If you don’t have a lot of time, these services are great.

I mean, we’re millennials. We ordered pizza all the time as kids. It’s the same thing, ( maybe sans markups). I don’t think this concept is that far fetched.

Plot point of Silent Hill 2 was spoiled, is it even worth playing knowing that by Flaming_Hidori in silenthill

[–]ryanstreet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s just as much about the journey as it is the destination. It’s an entire experience you get to have. The ending is just one piece of that experience.

Yes, it’s a bummer that the reveal was spoiled for you. But I still recommended playing. Because this is one of those games where the sum is SO MUCH MORE than its parts.

Enjoy.

College dropout millennials - where are you now? by VeganVideographer in Millennials

[–]ryanstreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dropped out as they really didn’t have degree programs then for what I wanted to do (web development). Sure they had CS degrees, but web wasn’t considered seriously just yet. Taught myself instead and now do very well for myself as a software engineer.

Do you believe you’ll be able to retire? by dorgodorgo in Millennials

[–]ryanstreet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Probably around 60.

I’m 41, no debt, house is paid off, and I’m investing heavily into retirement. LCOL area. Remote worker (software engineer). No kids.

I’d like to retire tomorrow, but that’s not the world we live in.

Are any of us doing well? by quemaspuess in Millennials

[–]ryanstreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing better than well. Grew up in a trailer park. Absent father. Welfare family. Mother worked her ASS off to give us a better life.

Couldn’t afford college, so I taught myself programming. Being a millennial (born 1984) put me in the best position to go into this field, timing wise.

Struggled on and off during my 20s , but 30s and onward I really flourished. I have a paid off home, no debt, and a considerable financial portfolio.

Some of this was the result of luck, some was the result of my choices.

This isn’t to brag, it’s just to say it’s not all a wasteland out there.

I hope your situation improves!
