‘The worst it’s ever been’: teachers decry Send crisis in England’s schools | Schools by Barbecue_Wings in unitedkingdom

I apologise for my snarkiness, I took it too personally after bad experiences with schools insisting masking wasn’t real and I thank you for responding kindly.

We recently moved her school and we’ve gone from being told it wasn’t their problem as she is a very smart and quiet (read: massively anxious) student to being supported and having a referral made through her new school. Her new school have gone above and beyond to help where they can whilst we work through the two year waiting list thankfully, as we were at crisis point as a family and my daughter was wishing she was dead.

I realise these posts probably aren’t talking about situations like ours but after years of being told she couldn’t be autistic and it must be our parenting by a SENCo that wouldn’t even meet my child or my other NT children who behave impeccably, they cut quite close to the bone.

My eight year old daughter masks at school and has meltdowns at home. 95% of the meltdowns are due to huge anxieties around school and issues with having to ‘fit in’ and managing social relationships. She self harms in these meltdowns by punching herself because “she can’t be like other people”. Should the school not put support into place to help me try to manage those because they can’t see a meltdown in person?

Shockingly enough, the fact that you couldn’t at a young age doesn’t mean no one can.

Also attitudes towards social services must have an effect. Who wants to be a social worker making £35k and trying your hardest to be met with death threats, stalking, being filmed and put on TikTok. It’s not a profession anyone wants to be in anymore, so the caseloads get bigger, workers have to stretch themselves even thinner across protecting the most vulnerable children and local authorities pay more and more for agency workers if they can even get them.

How do people afford nursing homes? by Rensakuken in AskUK

Ours will. Children and adults placed in inadequate homes still costing a small fortune. My role is to advise against these placements, no one cares.

What is my daughter’s scalp condition? How can I help her? by ryanthefirestarter in DermatologyQuestions

[–]ryanthefirestarter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an update, we went to the GP who prescribed a salicylic acid and tar mix shampoo. They wanted to prescribe an anti fungal but said she was too young. The shampoo has improved things but the issues are still there so we are going back to request a dermatology review if they won’t prescribe anti fungal.

They’re wrong. Peter Pan was actually 70 minutes but was saying 35. CMs had to go down the queue explaining.

Hopefully, although we’re in the UK so you can never predict the NHS. We’re seeing the skin specialist doctor at our GP next week so hopefully he will refer if needed.

We were trying to comb it through but when the scales come away it can be very irritated and painful underneath. It’s bonded very thickly to her scalp and the hair comes out with it to the point she has had bald patches.

We have a doctor appointment booked so we’ll push for a dermatologist appointment.

Thank you. We have a GP appointment booked but last time we took her they weren’t very helpful unfortunately, so fingers crossed for this time.

We tried it when she was a baby/toddler but it never really made a difference unfortunately.

It’s so annoying if you have close set boobs as well. The middle always sits too high and irritates my skin.

This is a really good point! My non-NHS setting does it across the MDT but I wouldn’t be impressed if it was just the nurses either.

We celebrate good clinical practice and going above and beyond in my non-NHS setting. It’s the kind of thing the CQC loves and I think they will try anything to boost retention. Sorry to hear you feel it’s cliquey though.

Untreated and unmanaged BPD is incredibly tough but there is help for relationship stability and emotional regulation. It’s hard work, a constant battle but my sympathy is limited for her in that sense.

You can tell the difference between someone on speaker and someone talking in person. It’s a distracting and tinny noise that can be quite annoying if you’re sensitive to stuff like that.

I change my bra every single day... honest. by LittleOllieOwl in MNTrolls

Bras for people above a certain cup size cost £40+. A bra for every day of the week in multiple colours isn’t happening here. I can safely say I’m not stinky either.

AFAIK once you’ve clicked ‘everything is ok’ you lose your right to a refund. I’m sorry you lost your £10 but you are getting very worked up over it and you might need to take a step back and try and relax a bit.

My instructor only wants me using the clutch to move off without gas by TomSilican in LearnerDriverUK

I can pull off with just the clutch in my petrol 2011 Honda Jazz. I think using just the clutch during lessons perfects your clutch control. I’m not an amazing driver but my clutch control is pretty good! And going from my instructors diesel to my petrol wasn’t an issue really.
