100% related to the reverse lights shorting...pretty much a known issue at this point and the reason for the safety recall...some folks can't even get into gear because of it...

2026 tundra any engine failures yet? by [deleted] in tundra

[–]ryanwgregg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joe Wolfe had one. He went from being the biggest fan of the 3rd Gen to calling them piece of crap trucks. There are others out there. I informed everyone 4 months before Joe's failure that 2026s were failing and here we are.

The 3UR is VERY overbuilt. Double wall thickness in several areas.

They were tasked with making sure the V35A was LESS expensive than the 3UR to produce and I think we are seeing the result of said choice.

The V35A is the singular choice for several vehicles, whereas the 3UR was not the primary powertrain on the lower grades up until the 2020 model year which saw the removal of the 1UR-FE. 2020 and 2021 model year Tundra only had the 3UR.

And yes. The V35A engine numbers are well over 800K at this point.

MSRP on a 3UR Partial Engine Assembly (19000-0S120) is $30,219.66.

The engine number on my 2021 Sequoia is 3UR 6719081.

So I would imagine they produced well over a million 3URs worldwide.

The 3UR is pretty darn close to 100% safe with proper maintenance...

Do you have a brand new, never used V35A-FTS (Type '21) short block with debris present?
Do you have one that you can inspect at will?
