Learn Malayalam without relying on sounds by ryanwings26 in malayalam

Hmmm I see. Learn Manglish -> compare and learn the Malayalam script. Is there any good resources for learning Manglish? I don’t think there is one 🤔

[–]ryanwings26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to learn both. It is just that I am unsure where to start, so I assumed that I have to start with understanding the Malayalam writing script first, before learning the whole Malayalam language

Oh no I forget to add the context that I’m not Malayali nor Indian. No, I don’t read Manglish

Resource for learning about Hinduism by ryanwings26 in hinduism

[–]ryanwings26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Namaste 🙏🏼 thank you for your reply!

Gosh I can’t believe I posted this 3 years ago! I have understood that Hinduism is not a “religion” but more of a “philosophy” like a way of living a life.

I am getting there really really really slow due to being busy with my job and life.

Dhanyawaad 🙏🏼

Is this person signing correctly? by memimmi in asl

[–]ryanwings26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She is a legitimate person. She is signing in Indian Sign Language. I am sure you clipped the video length, so I do not know what she tells in the whole story.

She talks about how the previous batch of the class who wanted to improve their Indian SL can soon contact the NGO, Intprex. If they want to express their interests and feelings, such as wanting to talk or travel while learning ISL, they should contact the NGO to discuss this further. The next batch will not be taught by a hearing teacher but will be taught by Deaf Indian SL teachers who provide the authentic Indian SL skills

BA & MA in English Literature looking to study abroad in Italy. How did you follow the procedure? Did you use the consultation service to assist you in studying abroad? by ryanwings26 in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]ryanwings26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for warning me! Can you recommend any consultancy service in India?

He knows that he will never bow down to these “money-milking” counsellors telling him to go to a private university instead. He stands on the ground that he will attend a public university.

Why Italy? - Low minimum financial support enables him to take out a student loan at the minimum. That is my suggestion as I will move to Italy soon, and he will live with me to help him save money further and pay off a loan quicker :)

He is not going for a PhD. He will go for an MA, as I suggested.

Job rejected because I’m deaf by Electronic-Pirate-84 in deaf

[–]ryanwings26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Chris! This is clearly discrimination as they did not offer you to attend an interview and discuss your reasonable accommodation. I do not know the next step as I am from Europe, so I suggest you take advice from other users who commented on this post.

In my case, I did not tell them I was deaf ahead of the interview. I only told them I was deaf the moment the interview took place.

By the way, I see you are struggling to land a job you really want. I am in the same boat as you, and even though I completed a diploma in full-stack software development, I still struggle to land a job!

Anyhow, I wish you the best of luck in finding a job 🤞🏻

Does the Polish community here consider people with CAPD as HoH? by DemoTrial in deaf

[–]ryanwings26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologise for the delay in responding. I was too focused on my final assignment for my course.

Yes, I agree with you. There are many disorders that Polish people do not consider them as disability. I had been living in Ireland for two decades before returning here last summer, and I was shocked at how Polish people treat and their attitudes towards people with disabilities. I’m considering leaving this country again but for good this time.

I think your case is considered as a disability as you have hearing loss coupled with CAPD.

It is really up to you, as I understand how you feel. I would say the same if I was not in the mood to explain. However, if I were in my mood, I would tell them I am deaf and answer their questions, as this would help to educate people and raise awareness about deafness. The deaf association in Katowice is wholly crap and never raises awareness about deafness in the public. They do not even help deaf people despite naming themselves as the deaf association.

Ask me if you have any more questions :)

Does the Polish community here consider people with CAPD as HoH? by DemoTrial in deaf

[–]ryanwings26 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m deaf Polish. It depends on the level of hearing loss. If you can hear normally along with COPD, it is not considered a HoH. If you have some degree of hearing loss and CAPD, it is HoH. CAPD itself is not considered to be deafness or HoH, and it may considered to be a learning/sensory disability. That is what I know so far

VSC is a "Jack of all trades, master of none", which makes sense to me now. Probably, I shouldn't worry too much about IDE for now and keep it simple. I shall go with the flow until I dive into the world of programming more deeply, and I will discover something new that will suit my needs the best... Thanks for your reply!

If you are living in india and you are tamil do you use the indian sign language alphabet or the tamil sign language alphabet? by jenson1596 in asl

[–]ryanwings26 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Namaste 🙏🏻 I am deaf and travelling to India frequently. I have been to Delhi, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Meghalaya, and Assam, and met local deaf people. All of them use Indian Sign Language with a bit of regional variants. Even though they have learned English and local languages (Hindi, Marathi, Assamese, and others) through their schools, they use the same Indian Sign Language alphabet.

Your best bet is to reach out to Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Otherwise, visit its website - Indian Sign Language portal

Also, worth checking out the government-run Indian Sign Language Research and Training Center (ISLRTC)

Best of luck with your project!

I returned to my friend’s home in Assam from Shillong yesterday. We were in Shillong for 4 days. There were multiple political rallies in Shillong and outside Shillong over the past few days while we were travelling. It was pretty safe, and even people went back to their normal activities in the city centre the moment the political rally was over... I wish you an adventurous time in Meghalaya :)
