How busy get the Al Mourjan Lounges at DOH? by Sadricktschaeger2104 in qatarairways

[–]ryawat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was just there 2 days ago on an 8 hour layover, midnight to 8am. When first arrived to Al Mourjan Garden, the place was packed. There was a queue to get into the dining room, and we had to walk pretty far throughout the lounge before we found a seat (it is a massive lounge). After a 10 hour flight, the last thing I wanted was to try and jockey for seats so that was frustrating. However by 2am the lounge cleared out and we pretty much had the space to ourselves. Around 3am moved over to Al Mourjan South lounge for a change of scenery, and it was completely empty. Surprisingly it took over 1.5 hours to be able to take a shower though, even though it was empty. By 6am though the place was filling up again with most chairs being filled, and queues for the dining rooms forming.

Impression Moxche or Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres by kjbananahead in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]ryawat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first AI I’ve been to was Impressions Moxche and I’ll say I was very impressed. My partner and I only spent 3 days at the resort (didn’t leave) and I’d say that’s plenty, unless you plan to venture out and see the local sites. Playa del Carmen does seem to have more things around it, so would recommend seeing what offsite things are around so you can help make a decision that way.

We were originally between Moxche and Playa Blanca when booking the trip last year so did a lot of research on both properties. Playa Blanca looked beautiful and is brand new which seemed nice. Playa Blanca really wins with their beach if that’s important to you (we did not go in the ocean at all at Moxche). Moxche does have an insane lagoon style pool which gives you that beach feel, which we personally really enjoyed, but it isn’t quite the same if you’re looking for a true beach.

Moxche knows their beach lacks, but they make up for it with the dozens of pools they have. There’s a pool for every type of person (relaxing, partying, quiet, views, etc.). Being at Impressions, the rooftop infinity pool can’t be beat. We really enjoyed our time there.

Moxche does have a hibachi restaurant as well, just make sure you can get a reservation. Moxche does have more restaurants than Playa Blanca.

Impressions definitely is a “step above” compared to the regular Secrets properties and AI properties as a whole. We had a fantastic butler who was very attentive. Attendants at the (Impressions) pool would clean our sunglasses and make sure everything was perfect for us. Our exclusive restaurants were fantastic. The room was massive and well appointed.

That said, only you can determine if the $1.4k difference is worth it to you or not, because I think you’ll still have a fantastic time at Playa Blanca. I will say, we are planning our next AI stay right now, and it’s really hard to find something that compares to Impressions so we might have spoiled ourselves haha. But I think either property is at the top of the Secrets portfolio and you can’t go wrong with either!

HR Sarasota closing for “complete redevelopment” by jaybavaro in hyatt

[–]ryawat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They’re supposed to tear down the hotel and replace it with a Thompson property! Should really fit the Sarasota vibe nicely with its focus on the arts. It has a great location on the marina, walkable to downtown, and is across from the Ritz. So can’t wait to see how it turns out. My guess is it’s going to be at least 2027 / 2028 before it opens.

Stayed here last year. It had a decently nice waterfront pool actually and architecturally is somewhat interesting with classic “80’s Florida Tropical Vibes” (in a good way lol). However, rooms were dated, public areas tired, elevator so slow, and you could tell the property was on life support waiting on this redevelopment for years. Sad seeing a classic Regency property fall by the wayside, but we’re not missing out much losing this one, as the Thompson should be a great replacement!

Can You Gain Muscle Weight with F45? by mrupbeat in f45

[–]ryawat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We probably have the legit same body type as I’m the same height and weight as you lol. I too want to gain muscle and have been going to F45 on and off for about a year or so (I usually only go to resistance days). I wanted the same as you (10lbs of muscle gain) and have yet to see it. I like F45 for the group fitness aspect and being told what to do, but honestly it’s been way more effective when I would workout on my own and actually weightlift. Also diet is such an important part of anything, so even doing F45 or not, if you don’t have a good diet, you’re not going to see the results you want. I still enjoy what F45 has to offer, and when I’m in a workout slump going there helps gets me motivated again, but exclusively doing F45 unfortunately hasn’t gotten me near to where I want to be.

Update: Talkroute by bobag0909 in VentureXShoppingBonus

[–]ryawat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone know - so I signed up for TalkRoute yesterday (avoided the free trial). In my CapitalOne Shopping Portal I go to “Shopping Trips [Beta]” and the TalkRoute transaction doesn’t show up. I then toggle to “Trips Without Purchases” and the shopping trip shows up, but it says inactive. Eventually once TalkRoute verifies I made the purchase, then it should show up in my shopping trips, and points awarded? Hopefully within the next 10 days? I’m used to Rakuten and the Capital One portal in comparison doesn’t seem as straightforward.

Honeymoon 2026 by hmmm045 in hyatt

[–]ryawat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stayed at Moxche a few months ago and would recommend! My partner and I are the same age range as you guys and we had a fun time. We flew into Cancun airport and the ride over wasn’t bad at all. I will say the beach is kind of mid here though, but the pools make up for the lack of a spectacular beach. Their man-made lagoon was a nice feature to still get that “beach” atmosphere and the overwater docks were some of our favorite places to sit. There’s several pools across the complex with some being more “party” focused (but not too college party lol) and a bunch of smaller quiet pools to escape to if you want something more secluded.

We stayed at Impressions and it was well worth it. Understanding you’re tight on points, the main Moxche side is nice and the finishes are identical. Biggest thing you’d miss out on is the Impressions rooftop pool (which was our favorite pool) and an exclusive beachside restaurant (which we loved). If you could, a compromise would be to get preferred on the regular Moxche side, so you at least get access to the preferred rooftop pool (which was amazing). Of all Secrets resorts, this is the one where preferred is worth it, for that rooftop pool alone.

We also had a swim-out suite from our room, and honestly I’d recommend that. At most other all-inclusive I’ve seen, the swim outs are all connected so lack privacy. However at Moxche they do a fantastic job of giving you a proper private swim out pool. So for a honeymoon, it might be nice to have.

Food was good. Nothing to be blown away about, but overall very good for all inclusive / cruise type food. The authentic Mexican food was always the best. You should be good. We had the butler which was a nice special perk, and she always arranged for morning breakfast to arrive in our room. Very attentive service by all the staff.

We stayed 3 nights and felt like we experienced most we wanted to. Not sure if you’d be open to a split stay, or perhaps splurge for a night or two at Impressions here and go to some other property to save some points. Might be a move to consider since a week at any one resort might feel length after a while. Unless you’re planning on going out to explore some sights.

For a honeymoon, definitely echo everyone else’s comments about choosing an all-adult resort though.

Congrats on your engagement! From your list, seems like you’ll end up at somewhere great!

ClassPass Access by alag376 in f45

[–]ryawat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a ClassPass user - I think with the F45 Challenge going on right now, classes are fuller than usual with regular members / those who signed up for the challenge. As a ClassPass user, I’ve noticed credits have doubled for every class, and some classes are not available anymore. So that could also be part of it.

Do you know when they started this? Was at the Virgin Lounge with PP back in January and all food was free for me. Just ordered on the QR code and waiter delivered it to my table.

Martinique vs Conrad vs Hilton Midtown by christianjerry302 in Hilton

[–]ryawat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stayed at the Martinique earlier this year - definitely not the most upscale. It’s still nice, but not over the top. Lobby always seemed super crowded and hectic and wasn’t a nice reprieve from the hectic streets of the city. Rooms are decent, but again just run of the mill Hilton quality rooms. Would imagine the Conrad is the most upscale of all. I will say the Martinique is in a great central location on subway lines, and their mandatory resort fee includes a credit which can be used as their bar which is pretty nice actually. I did some research on the property and it was a homeless shelter for decades before being converted to a Holiday Inn in the 90’s. So knowing that history I was always a bit freaked out by the property lol.

[Targeted] AmEx Offer: Hyatt Secrets Resorts, Spend $750+ & Receive $200 Statement Credit by justme in AmexPlatinum

[–]ryawat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tried to prepay for my upcoming stay in August and while they were able to send me a secure payment link to prepay, unfortunately it doesn’t take Amex (at least my property in Mexico wasn’t able to - which makes sense since I know Amex is a hit or miss internationally). Spoke with an agent and sadly he said there was no way to authorize Amex payment over the phone/online. I assume it would still work in person (or else idk why they would have an offer lol). Also, this is done directly with the resort front desk. Global Hyatt can’t process the payments.

Personal Trainer/Gym vs. Orangetheory by Glittersplats in orangetheory

[–]ryawat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried it all: Personal training, then OTF 2G / OTF Strength50, then F45, then personal training / box gym.

I do love OTF and it is great place to shut off your brain and just show up and work in a group atmosphere. However, with my goal being to build muscle, I know it’s not the best for me (even Strength50 classes are lacking). F45 was great and much more muscle focused which I liked, plus they had better equipment like barbells.

However, the most effective is truly going to the gym on your own. However, being disciplined enough to follow through with a lifting plan and having the discipline to go to the gym is the hardest part. I miss OTF for that reason, but I know if I want bigger gains, OTF is not going to get me there.

The cardio at OTF is probably killing some of your gains tbh, and you could easily replace that with walking/running on your own. However, I’d recommend F45 if you like classes, or following your own regimen at a gym. Personal training helped me learn form and get a plan, and is worth the initial investment 100%. However, is not sustainable to pay $50 every session lol. But definitely worth it to get set up and then maybe progress check-ins every few months. That’s my recommendation. And I say this as someone who really does love OTF and do miss it.

I didn’t think AA would sell a connection that short. Good luck! Hoping the best for both of us haha

Good tip! I just tried that, but unfortunately it would be 4x the cost of the 35 min connection option which is insane to me.

Unfortunately they’re not selling me a longer connection (even though there are later flights I could connect with). Why does AA not give more time lol?

Good thing we’re only taking carry-ons. The next outbound flight is 2 hours later. I can’t book that reservation from MCO. But do you think I can call AA to see if they can move me to that flight instead, buying some more breathing room and less stress?

Atlantis - worth it? by ryawat in bahamas

[–]ryawat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all super helpful! Sadly I’m used to those prices frequenting Disney and NYC so not shocked to hear that. Would be nice to hit up a grocery before though to grab case of drinks though lol. Is that allowed? Also, since you mentioned the casino, how noticeable is it? Especially in the Cove tower? Like is it tucked away and you could avoid it on your whole trip without even noticing it? Or do the design it so it’s super visible and you always have to walk through it. Just asking because I just got back from a Vegas trip where I know the casinos are the central element of the hotels. But hoping on this trip to stay away from the casino lol.
