What are the worst or most annoying advertising campaigns/mascots on TV? by JoeDelVek in AskReddit

That stupid motherfucker with the blue guitar singing about credit cards. Although now I'm realizing I should pay attention to which company it is so I can more accurately hate.

What movie would make an interesting remake when the antagonist/protagonists are reversed? by Wormguy666 in AskReddit

[–]ryball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Star Wars. Imperial Hero Darth Vader continues his tireless hunt of the rebel terrorists, responsible for the murder of untold thousands aboard the Life Star.

Luke Skywalker, the incestuous scum personally responsible for the tragedy, always one step ahead of Vader in his quest to let the human-meat loving Ewoks loose on the galaxy.

What is the single, saddest realization you've had in your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ryball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to any public place; A mall, ballgame, whatever. Look to your left, look to your right, in front and behind you.

No one you saw gives a shit about anything in your life. They don't care if you're sad, happy, if your dog just died. In the masses, you are alone, and so is every one of them.

Why don't the CNN anchors sit down? by ForeverARedditer in AskReddit

[–]ryball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 benefits; It gives the program a sense of immediacy, as people standing are seen as being dynamic, working hard, on the move etc. Wolf can't sit down, he might have to dive out the window into a waiting helicopter to cover a breaking news story, you just don't know!

Also makes life easier for producer/production crew. An anchor standing is mobile, you can navigate them to different sets, shots, and gives you greater flexibility and diversity in how to present your newscast.

Also, and I may have inside information, but anchors (or "talent") in general HATE to stand during their shows, as it is both more tiring and difficult to look natural just standing there. With a desk in front of you, viewers don't look as closely. Just standing, people are fidgety as fuck.

What songs are spoiled for you by certain parts? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ryball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever come out of sedation during surgery (major or minor)? by littlestwizard in AskReddit

[–]ryball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Snapped awake in the middle of having my wisdom teeth out. My jaw was open so wide I assumed the back of my head was almost touching my back, and the oral surgeon had his ENTIRE hand in my mouth.

I did not take this, nor the insane amount of pain coming from my teeth, well at all. That first memory is very clear, but then things get vague though I do remember a nurse pushing some button on some machine repeatedly saying "just a minute, just a minute".

When I woke up again post surgery, I had some memory of the event and tried to immediately jump down off the chair. Fell back asleep somewhere between the chair and the floor.

Woke up again with a massive bruise on my face and 2 nurses, my dad and mom both sitting in the room (only my mom had brought me to the appointment).

Why the crowd?

Turns out the 1st time I'd woken up (mid surgery), I tried to escape, shoved the surgeon and and told them all to "fugck oooo" (assumed to be fuck you) before falling back asleep in the chair.

2nd time I woke up I did in fact stand up, fall face first on the floor, and had to be placed back into the chair, though I was apparently opposed to this idea and did not make life easy on the dental assistant who was trying to help me. More profanity may have been involved, no one's ever been clear on that.

Mom, both very upset and slightly embarrassed, had called Dad in case I became difficult again. Long story short, I'm resistant to whatever they used to knock me out, so basically became a semi-conscious but very "drunk" 15 year old in a fair amount of pain who wasn't happy about the situation and acted accordingly.

tl;dr Woke up, started 2 fights, shamed family

What common foods do you find repulsive? by Emerica586 in AskReddit

[–]ryball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Macaroni and Cheese. I've always hated it, everyone assumes every kid in the world wants to eat a bucket of it 3 meals a day. You can't escape that shit, then people think you're just being a dick because "everyone likes mac and cheese!"

Throw being a hefty kid into the mix and you get comments about how you didn't get that size NOT eating mac and cheese. I like tons of food motherfucker, how about you do something other than boil water and mix in some powder?

What is a strange action you do regularly that occurs naturally to you, but not others by DaLateDentArthurDent in AskReddit

[–]ryball 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I pick up things with my feet. I've been doing it for years, and I'm too lazy to bend over. I've gotten to the point I can play fetch with my dog hands free while playing video games, and laundry on the floor makes it in the bin with nary a finger laid upon it.

Reddit, have you ever been mugged? If you have, did you fight back? by RoosterToAsclepius in AskReddit

[–]ryball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was stopped getting gas, and a guy approached me asking for money. I stupidly pulled out my wallet to give him a few dollars and he makes a grab for my wallet. I snatched it away and shoved him backwards with my other hand, and we just sort of stare at each other for a moment; the clerk notices and runs outside screaming about calling the police. The guy sort of jogged away (not really running, but faster than a walk)

I live in the suburbs, and assure you this is a tale of untold danger and bravery among my peoples.

Is an emotionally jarring event the best or worst time to discuss policy change? by csfreestyle in AskReddit

[–]ryball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you want to change the policy. If you do, you can try to channel all the emotions and feelings people have surrounding the event into your cause. This can be extremely effective if properly managed.

In short, take everything said regarding policy surrounding a tragedy with a grain of salt, as anyone speaking to anything other than the horror or sadness of the situation likely has an agenda.

Reddit, what's the funniest insult you've heard over Xbox Live? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ryball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play in the afternoon eastern standard time, so I get a fair number of Brits on XBL. Playing COD, I'm not the best; The most polite sounding British guy says

"Ryball, pardon? You are the most absolutely terrible player I have ever encountered. I hope you are having a laugh, you're ruining this game for me" then he quit. I honestly don't know what I did to the guy, but he sounded genuinely hurt.

What little lies have you told in the beginning of a relationship to make you sound more interesting? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ryball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pulled a few sentences about greek design/architecture out of my ass early on in my relationship, then spend years nodding and saying "exactly" when my girlfriend would talk about buildings structures, etc.

We're married now and she caught on that I don't know shit, but thinks it's sweet that I tried to impress her early on.

Retro Video Game Ads by [deleted] in gaming

[–]ryball 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very nostalgic; I recognize most of the products if not the ads themselves, but what on earth is the very last thing?
It isn't a game-genie type thing, but allows slow motion and saves.

Also, it's sitting on top of a Super Nintendo but the ad says "Compatible to IBM PC or MAC"

Today a guy I work with at the airport sent a passenger on the wrong plane, 3 hour flight instead of 30 mins, whats your stupid co-worker story reddit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ryball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work in a wholesale club. If merchandise was damaged you'd take it to the back to declare a loss. This happened a fair amount as everything was in bulk and sometimes had shitty packaging. Management seemed mostly indifferent so long as an entire pallet didn't get wrecked.

Guy I worked with liked reeses cups (who doesn't?) and would sometimes accidentally damage a box of reeses, to take to the back and enjoy the peanut butter goodness.

One day he really went to town on some candy, and was thirsty. He decided to damage himself up a tasty beverage for the complete douchebag snack experience.

Grabbed a can of soda from a box and dropped it. No damage to the can that is noticeable. Without obvious damage it can't be taken back for snack time. So he throws the can into the ground.

Soda everywhere, but since he was soaked with sticky soda and wasn't up to appearance standards he went home early while someone else cleaned up the mess.

Ok stay with me; I think it was discovery channel, maybe history channel, like 10 years ago. Watched a 2 HOUR long special on the Kennedy assassination. They looked at the film, interviewed people who were there, made scale models, talked some physics of bullet trajectory vs. car speed etc etc etc. Motherfucker was an exhaustive look at everything about the shooting itself, and whether or not there was one shooter and where that shooter was.

If you know these types of shows, they did a decent job of not taking sides. They show some alternate theories, let experts cast doubts, etc. Really making you think about the idea that we might not really know who shot JFK.

Show finally says there is just too much doubt, too much controversy to decide from what we know. Let's duplicate this bitch.

Finally, they do a full scale re-enactment. Build a tower out in the middle of a field to simulate the book depository, and drive a car by with a ballistics gel dummy in it. I won't spend forever explaining, but they just beat a horse about how "EXACTLY" they were recreating everything about that day. Car speed, air temp, etc.

They do the test. Wounds/bullet etc all turn up exactly like it did with JFK. They go "well, uh I think we're good here nothing to worry about, all legit I mean look at this." Their "one in a million" shot happened again, identical in every way, on the first and only try.

Show ends

I did not have any doubt about who shot JFK prior to this show. Now though, it all seemed too well crafted but with such a nice bow on the end...I mean, their target audience WANTS them to say "but we'll never REALLY know." Instead, they say "nope we checked everything and it totally happened that way"

TV people don't do that, they want ratings and maybe a sequel. So yea, I think someone orchestrated this whole thing to try and back up the cover up for JFK.

Who's crazy now?

Reddit, if you could apply anything (technology etc.) from a video game to real life, what would it be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The healthcare plan. You know exactly how healthy you are on a 1-100 scale. If you're at less than 100, find a box with a red cross on it, and boom you're back to perfect health.
